Everton Youth Teams Thread

Massive assumption given Werner, Havertz and Keitas struggles adapting. 3 far better players than him

Well I mean that's a weird response. Have those 3 struggled with the pace of the league? They might not have had good form but the pace was fine. He was a proper athlete; just because he came from Germany doesn't matter. Doucoure came from the farmers league and didn't struggle with the pace.

McConnell 1-0 Liverpool on 21mins

Came from our error, keeper to defender, defender give ball away and shot was a pretty decent goal to be fair

---
Djankpata finally gets a shot in for us on 22mins, and it went just wide
----
Liverpool hit bar on 25mins and then looks like it was cleared off the line
-
Leban makes great save on 27mins then looks like the 2 inrushing Liverpool players get in each others way for what would be a tap in and it goes wide

Some pretty good football, Everton needing to defend, and there have been a few nervous moments, but the goal came from a defensive error, showing that it only takes one mistake and you're behind. One bad foul by Jack Tierney saw him booked.

2-0 on 50mins - Oakley Cannonier
Linesman put flag up to look like it was not counting, then back down lol

Everton hit bar on 58mins

While the game is quite 1 sided, it is worth noting we are missing a number of the best under 18's. Mills, Price,Welch, Kouyate, Jagne, Onyango & Campbell are all fairly regular under 23 players (which is a good thing). Most of the players today are either 1st year players, and I think we actually have 3 or 4 under 16's playing. So we do just look smaller than Liverpool's players, who are older (which at that age makes a big difference).

They also recruit heavily at that age. I could be wrong, but I don't think a single outfield player has been brought in from us, but they will have 4 or 5 lads who have been expensively (the number 4 looks good).

At a more equal level (the 16's) we recently defeated them quite heavily. But a mixture of pushing a lot of players up, and perhaps not the investment into the 18's team due to a ban leads it to be more 1 sided.

I'd say they've struggled to adapt with the pace yeah. The German league gives you a lot more time on the ball. Being a proper athlete means nothing if you need 3 or 4 touches to do anything
