Everton suffer their 1st league defeat since October away v the leaders - we are one of only 2 teams to beat City this season, next week we play home v the bottom team Leeds

It’s interesting to see Callum Bates seemingly moving out of the pack of young midfielders like Apter and Patterson, captain at u18 today and playing up for the u21s. It’s difficult to judge as we don’t get to see them that much but it suggests that our coaches rate him . Throw in the older Metcalfe and Barker and there’ll be good competition for the u21 midfield spots next season.

Surprised to see Ishe back down with the kids... Odin, yes, but not Ishe – he has not played for the U18s since December…

Looks like there's no 21s game this week so just a case of giving him minutes and helping out quite a young, inexperienced 18s team.

Should also be remembered that Ishe is 16 so it's not completely weird for him to be playing for both sides.

Jarrad Branthwaite, first time, and James Garner are in the latest England u21 squad. There were no Everton players in the England u18, 19, 20 squads announced, unless I missed somebody.

Tom Cannon is on the Ireland u21 squad.

Everton are level. A long ball forward from Price is cleverly dummied by Okoronkwo, allowing McAllister to feed it to Kouyate, who squeezed it past the keeper. 1-1

Just found this interview with Dan Micciche from his time at Arsenal. Haven't had a chance to listen yet but will do later. I'm quite happy though that someone of his calibre is involved in our youth setup TBH. Good sign that we're moving away from the old boys network and trying to get good people in now

7th placed Everton u18s will hope got get back to winning way after their defeat away to the leaders last time out, as today we play home to bottom placed Leeds in a midday ko. Leeds have lost every away u18s league game this season conceding 27 away goals in 7 games letting in at least 2 a game, They scored 3 late goals at Finch farm last season to win 4-1 in a rare away win, while we let in a last min equaliser v Leeds in the away game in December to draw 1-1
