Everton Youth Teams Thread

I keep reading that Dyche doesn’t give youth a chance. Can anyone tell me a successful youth that Dyche didn’t play but has become successful?

Just because at Burnley I sense they didn’t have the pick of youth players available.

Had he had a Rooney and refused to play him then I understand the point made. But otherwise it’s just b@llocks and typical Everton bashing!
I can’t answer a negative as I don’t know, but he gave the18 year old Dwight McNeil his first minutes in theBurnley first team. I imagine his interview included the words “ You’ll have no money to spend and you have one job to do : stop us being relegated. Should you chose to accept this mission…..” .

Sometimes we are blinded by things that cause us disbelief eg Maupay and 2 goalkeepers on the bench . I wouldn’t even try to answer those . The one thing we know from recent years is that very few youth players can make an immediate step up from u21s to PL , DCL and Gordon were prime examples who took time to establish themselves . Cannon and Branthwaite had gone on loan, much as my heart would have loved it there was no way we should have pitched the likes of Mills, Price or Welch into a relegation battle.

Let’s see how Dyche does this season with picking youth. The stark reality is if we’re in the relegation zone at Christmas he’ll be gone or we’ll be calling for his head. If we finish in the top ten he’ll be a hero irrespective of any youngsters he picks. My reality has changed , we appear to be in such financial shoite I think he’s going to have to use the likes of Branthwaite, Cannon , Mills and Warrington , maybe Dobbin and Onyango too if they can step up a gear. But my reality also says we’re not going to pick all six in the same side .

At least 3 of those players (the ones most likely to be any use) have been linked away on the cheap though.
Seemingly anything not nailed down is for sale

It’s scary that somebody at an ambitious Championship club like Preston could be saying “ Forget the loan, can we rustle up a £2 mill offer for Cannon , at worst they’ll knock us up to £3 mill” ☹️

Looks like Astley has signed an extension as he travels with the first team to Switzerland.
Youngsters are:

Ryan Astley
Tom Cannon
Billy Crellin
Lewis Dobbin
Liam Higgins
Mackenzie Hunt
Katia Kouyate
Stanley Mills
Francis Okoronkwo
Tyler Onyango
Joao Virginia
Lewis Warrington
Reece Welch

Would've liked to see Dixon go and a midfielder like Apter or Metcalfe but life goes on

If you add in the missing seniors , then add Garner and Branthwaite , youngsters make up close to half our squad.Scary . Charlie Whitaker is presumably still coming back from injury, was it two years ago he was the youngest in the pre season squad , but hit savagely by injury since.

…I think it’s mainly ‘lazy’ posts from folk who have an agenda or can’’t be bothered knowing the reality. I think it’s the same as shouts he’’ll continually pick Keane when we already know that isn’t the case.

…I note Tyler Onyango’s loan deals didn’t work out too well. Returned early from Burton then only 3 games for Forest Green before picking up a hamstring injury.

Another example that these loan deals often don’t work out.

The Burton loan he'd just fought his way back into the team then we recalled him for unknown reasons. Presumably because they changed coach mid season. Bad luck at forest green though for sure.

tbf he couldn't wait to get Keane back in the starting line up when he arrived, but his form was so bad even Dyche knew it would cost him his job and our PL status to keep him in.

What's happening with McAllister, is he being loaned out?

The last I read a week ago was that he and Welch were going on loan - or wanted to.
