I can’t answer a negative as I don’t know, but he gave the18 year old Dwight McNeil his first minutes in theBurnley first team. I imagine his interview included the words “ You’ll have no money to spend and you have one job to do : stop us being relegated. Should you chose to accept this mission…..” .I keep reading that Dyche doesn’t give youth a chance. Can anyone tell me a successful youth that Dyche didn’t play but has become successful?
Just because at Burnley I sense they didn’t have the pick of youth players available.
Had he had a Rooney and refused to play him then I understand the point made. But otherwise it’s just b@llocks and typical Everton bashing!
Sometimes we are blinded by things that cause us disbelief eg Maupay and 2 goalkeepers on the bench . I wouldn’t even try to answer those . The one thing we know from recent years is that very few youth players can make an immediate step up from u21s to PL , DCL and Gordon were prime examples who took time to establish themselves . Cannon and Branthwaite had gone on loan, much as my heart would have loved it there was no way we should have pitched the likes of Mills, Price or Welch into a relegation battle.
Let’s see how Dyche does this season with picking youth. The stark reality is if we’re in the relegation zone at Christmas he’ll be gone or we’ll be calling for his head. If we finish in the top ten he’ll be a hero irrespective of any youngsters he picks. My reality has changed , we appear to be in such financial shoite I think he’s going to have to use the likes of Branthwaite, Cannon , Mills and Warrington , maybe Dobbin and Onyango too if they can step up a gear. But my reality also says we’re not going to pick all six in the same side .
