Everton Youth Teams Thread

….and 20 years old is plenty old enough for a young striker to breakthrough. I again point out, going on loan isn’t some superficial La La Land.

The other thing to note is at least one player coming through is likely to leapfrog Cannon if he’s not at the club next season. There’s the ex-Sunderland striker who got brought down for the penalty the other night & there’s Sherif and Ebere. Any one of those can break through and I guarantee they won’t be sent on loan if they’re highly rated.
But not old enough to mean if they haven't then they never will. We get it Eggs, you don't rate loans, or players who get sent on them. You don't need to tell everyone every time one is mentioned! :p

…not at all, I’m just wary of them for a club with no strikers. I actually thought the loan deal for Branthwaite would be good for him.

Historically, our best young strikers have come straight into the fold. I think it’s a very bad sign that a 20 year old forward is being sent on loan when we are in such a desperate need for players in that position. Time will tell if I’m right.

Seems as simple as signing a new striker.

Positive jeopardy!? WTF does that even mean? Isn't jeopardy by definition a negative? Sounds to me just another case of change for the sake of change.

I saw somewhere that we were seeded 8th based upon the last three years , City 1,:RS 2. It does seem a bit complex to get from 26 teams to 16 for the knockout stages.

The “ positive jeopardy” bit is meant to reflect the fact that without the risk of relegation teams can afford to bring through younger players . On the other hand some players who are older, not going to make it , maybe being released could just coast along in matches with nothing riding on them . Time will tell, but for me the Papa John Trophy playing competitively against League1/2 men’s teams was the bench mark for a number of players last season and may be so again if we get another good run.

Anyone heard anything about Ebere leaving?
That’s an odd one. 17 , two years still on his pro contract, strongly built, plenty of potential but not startlingly so for other clubs to buy him. And he’s been with us a while , we let that foreign youngster go a couple of years ago as he was unhappy but this does sound strange .
