Everton Youth Teams Thread

I do like Cannon, think hes got a bit of everything to his game, but just needs that real game experience to really help him progress if he's going to make it at prem level.

He will have a good career in football regardless.

Not sure I agree with that. Player can be wanted but deemed not ready. Which is the question Cannon faces right now. A full season loan somewhere we can trust (Preston was a successful loan spell) would do him no harm whatsoever. Him
Not being deemed ready just yet doesn’t say much on his future. If we aren’t 100% sure he is ready, and we can bring in attackers. Then he should go out on loan, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a. Future here.

You say loans can be disastrous, but they can also be wonderful. No guarantee of anything Ofcourse but he if he goes on loan. Scores plenty and still isn’t fancied. Like Simms, can bring in a transfer fee

Dobbin is miles away from senior action and his derby loan spell was Ok, but didn’t produce many numbers. Everytime I see him he looks a bit lightweight for men’s football.

All comes down to who we bring in.

….we didn’t have a fit striker last season and still sent Simms on loan. It wasn’t to give him games, it was because he wasn’t deemed good enough. We are struggling again, if Dyche doesn’t want access to Cannon next season it’s a sign he’s not rated. He needs to force his way into the squad for next season.

It's a sign he's not ready. Whether he will ever be ready is a different question. Dyche seeing a 20 year old and going we can't rely on him next season doesn't mean he's out of the picture all together. He is only 20 years old. If he has a full season in the championship and rips it up and then Dyche isn't interested (or whatever manager we have by then becuase you know, we dont have any consistency there) then yes the sign is more likely to be that he's going to be moved on and isnt fancied at all.

My view is if Dyche isn't keen on him now, its not a no forever, its a no for now. We have different views on what non-inclusion at Everton's senior level would mean, which is fine. You may be right, Dyche may choose to write him off, I may be right and he's chosen to give him another years development. Neither of us know for sure! Personally I don't see a loan out as a negative from Dyche or anyone from the club.

I agree Simms was deemed not good enough, but he is two years further in his development and signs where it wasn't going to be for him to lead out line.

….and 20 years old is plenty old enough for a young striker to breakthrough. I again point out, going on loan isn’t some superficial La La Land.

The other thing to note is at least one player coming through is likely to leapfrog Cannon if he’s not at the club next season. There’s the ex-Sunderland striker who got brought down for the penalty the other night & there’s Sherif and Ebere. Any one of those can break through and I guarantee they won’t be sent on loan if they’re highly rated.
