Everton Youth Teams Thread

….and 20 years old is plenty old enough for a young striker to breakthrough. I again point out, going on loan isn’t some superficial La La Land.

The other thing to note is at least one player coming through is likely to leapfrog Cannon if he’s not at the club next season. There’s the ex-Sunderland striker who got brought down for the penalty the other night & there’s Sherif and Ebere. Any one of those can break through and I guarantee they won’t be sent on loan if they’re highly rated.
So all footballers who are still learning at 20, if they’re not in a senior squad, don’t make it?

I repeat as much as you’re pointing out loans don’t always work, they also can work. There is no guarantee of either. He has already shown that a loan can work for him.

A player can be highly rated and still go on loan. I didn’t say he wouldn’t get leapfrogged by whoever comes in. He may be seen as having the potential to
Come back from a loan and compete for a place but he’s not yet ready.

Just to be clear I’m not suggesting Tom Cannon will be the saviour. Just merely that just because you aren’t fancied at 20 doesn’t mean it’s game over at the club, those rating him may believe he needs a bit more time in senior football.. He could be highly rated but still only has minimal games in senior football under his belt.

If we don’t sign a number of attackers, and Cannon is loaned out, then yes. I would agree it’s Dyche not fancying him, but if do bring them in, it doesn’t definitively mean Cannon isn’t fancied.

I generally enjoy talking to you Eggs, but I think on this one we’ll have to agree to disagree because I don’t think any of us are going to concede any ground
