Everton Youth Teams Thread

Roberto Martinez has stolen a march on Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of Bury centre half Matthew Foulds according to a report.

MailOnline report that Everton have agreed a deal to sign the 17-year-old when the transfer window opens in January which would add to the Blues stable of thoroughbred English defenders.

Should there be any truth to the story, Foulds would follow Mason Holgate, Brendan Galloway and John Stones as young, home-grown defensive acquisitions picked up by Everton in recent years.

Southampton U21 match is shown live on their YouTube channel tonight. but according to a certain poster on here it's too expensive for us to do it due to rights issues!! Haha:bye:
Duffus back from year out injured, on the bench.

Evans and Holgate just look light years ahead of this level of football.
Evans really looking like a cut above the rest, loved when they showed the disallowed goal replay and it showed Evans got the ball, looked around him then slid it through to put Charsley in on goal. Holgate looks like he's in the mould of Stones, looking to dribble his way out of defense and get the ball forwards, but he's also making a few mistakes too that could cost the team. He looks promising though.

Great first half that. Great to see Charsley getting a game, I've said it before and I will say it again that kid has a goal in him and always pops up in the right place at the right time. Evans has looked superb.

looks like we're signung foulds from bury

Everton are confident of signing Bury teenager Matty Foulds.

The Blues want to add the 17-year-old to their Academy ranks and are hopeful of tying up a deal for the defender when the transfer window opens on January 2.

Foulds, a left-footed centre-half, has made just two appearances for League One outfit Bury but has quickly attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.

Everton faced competition from Spurs and Aston Villa but the Blues are understood to be Foulds’ preferred choice.

David Flitcroft hugs John Stones while he was the manager of Barnsley

Foulds is currently working under David Flitcroft at Bury, the manager who was in charge at Barnsley when Everton came calling for John Stones in January 2013.

Bradford-born Foulds signed professional terms with the Shakers in February and made his senior bow in August, coming on in the second-half against Leicester City in the Capital One Cup.

Foulds will join Stones, Brendan Galloway and Mason Holgate as teenage defenders, from the Football League, coming to Everton.
If true, that will make it three left footed CBs that Martinez will have brought in Galloway, RFM and Foulds.

If they all work out then nice succession planning as it can be harder to find a ball playing left footed defender.

.....much the better side at the break. Henen has height, speed, athleticism but is wasteful. It's as though it's a bit too easy for him. He needs to be clinical and make the most of the gifts he has. I like Conor Grant but for some reason left footers always seem to look good with a football, shame he's had to go to left back with the nasty looking injury to Jones.

Ledson on, looking a bit heavy to me but he's a class act. Kenny full of enthusiasm and Evans with some nicely weighted through balls. EFC are enjoying themselves but need to turn superiority into goals.

Really like the Southampton YouTube channel.
