Everton Youth Teams Thread

The young Irish lad looked good in the clipse I have seen
Forgotten his name ?
Shayne Lavery. Yep he hasn't appeared of late and somebody mentioned they'd seen him on crutches about a month ago. It would be good to get better updates on injuries to the youngsters e.g. Dowell, but I guess they are pretty cagey about releasing too much about them at a young age.

Here you go. Often the top scorer is some freakishly strong 18 year old who never makes a career in the game. I remember Leon Clarke (of Wolves at the time) scoring 5 against us once. And sadly the same seems to be true of Hallam Hope, once the others caught up in size he was less effective.
That's interesting, thanks. As soon as you said about the U18 top scorer being a ridiculously strong player I thought of Hope, he went from scoring 1 or 2 goals a game, even for England youth, to not scoring at all. Seems like it's difficult to judge strikers at that age.

Excellent link, thanks . You can find the goalscorers of Individual teams from it, this is ours
Goalscorers
(Correct up to: 20th September)

Player Goals
Delial Brewster 3
Nathan Broadhead 3
Michael Donohue 2
Jack Bainbridge 1
Danny Bramall 1
Antony Evans 1
Nathan Holland 1
Own Goal 1
If that "20th Sept" is correct then Brewster now has 5 goals from I think 5 starts and 1 sub a pretty impressive return, and Donohue 4 goals .

Another good win for the u18s and Broadhead also in a fine run of form with Brewster and Donahue. It seems that Broadhead has been playing through the middle more this season as a striker. I notice they used the phrase " strike partner Delial Brewster" so it would be interesting to see if we played differently e.g. 4-4-2 or just playing a style which encourages the forward players to switch positions and develop as strikers , which seems more likely. So 6 goals for Broadhead makes him top goalscorer now.

Puts us top by 2 points till at least 3pm today, man city u18s are 2-1 up at ht at middlesbrough,if thats a draw we stay top with a game in hand, whatever way we have a game in hand that if we won we would be top anyway
Looks like we will stay 2nd 1 point from top, with a game in hand as man city have scored 2 quick 2nd half goals away to boro, its 4-1 for city now

Man city u18s are away to Liverpool u18s next week,
we are away to derby u18s

They also appear to be playing a settled side ,that's virtually the same 10 outfielders starting for 3 games in a row. A nice balance too, with 5 1st year scholars and 5 2nd year, which should mean good continuity next year as the 2nd yrs move on and a new group come in or some of this year's intake who haven't played much get a chance next year.
Having watched England u17 draw 0-0 last night (Tom Davies played 90 mins, Yates unused sub>) I'm surprised that we don't have more international representation from that lot. I think only Broadhead , Wales , is a current international.

New Zealand beat Paraguay at U17 World Cop so they finish 2 and 3 in their group . So England are out even before the last matches are played, it looked liked NZ scored in the last minute or they would have been out and England still in it until the last match. Tom Davies and James Yates on their way home. Some bizarre selections from Neil Dewsnip , dropping Davies his captain for the 2nd game against Brazil ( unused sub suggests he wasn't injured), Yates dropped for final game despite having a positive attacking 2nd game. Rotation and giving people a game is good at this level but not if it costs you your place in next round.
Not making the last 16 from 24 is pretty poor at any level, and scoring only 1 goal says it all.

How many strikers are great by skill and guile though? So many seem to have an injury and lose form completely because they've lost their (physical) edge.

looks like we're signung foulds from bury

Everton are confident of signing Bury teenager Matty Foulds.

The Blues want to add the 17-year-old to their Academy ranks and are hopeful of tying up a deal for the defender when the transfer window opens on January 2.

Foulds, a left-footed centre-half, has made just two appearances for League One outfit Bury but has quickly attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.

Everton faced competition from Spurs and Aston Villa but the Blues are understood to be Foulds’ preferred choice.

David Flitcroft hugs John Stones while he was the manager of Barnsley

Foulds is currently working under David Flitcroft at Bury, the manager who was in charge at Barnsley when Everton came calling for John Stones in January 2013.

Bradford-born Foulds signed professional terms with the Shakers in February and made his senior bow in August, coming on in the second-half against Leicester City in the Capital One Cup.

Foulds will join Stones, Brendan Galloway and Mason Holgate as teenage defenders, from the Football League, coming to Everton.
