Everton Youth Teams Thread

It's really good news to see Courtney Duffus back playing after his injury setback. He was progressing well by all accounts, and was going to make an appearance against Young Boys in the Europa League last year, then Stones was sent off and didn't get on. Hopefully he can push on now and challenge for a place in the first team squad. He hasn't got much competition so he might get a chance.

How was Holgate?

Composed as usual but also seemed a little too relaxed at that level due to being above it ability wise which meant a few dodgy turns/passes and he also got roasted a couple of times towards the end by one of their quicker players. Nothing to worry about that he just needs to apply himself more to that level which is hard if you find it really easy. Same goes for a few of our other players too.

Haha, those highlights should be titled " Saints dominate , shame we've got to show Everton's goals" , but it is their channel, we'll only get the goals on Everton TV. For anybody not seeing the game, we dominated large parts of the match, passed them off the pitch at times, and had two goals rightly disallowed for offside. I'm not sure about Rhino's finest crop comment, but they certainly played excellently as a team . If we have injuries and the right matches , I'd say only Kenny and Holgate have the necessary experience and ability to get into a first team squad at the moment . Maybe Ledson would be close . All the rest are very much " work in progress" , which is a reflection of their young age and need for more experience.

A good analysis. We again out out a very young team though. As the Saints manager said at the end when asked about his young team he was honest enough to say that we had a far younger team out.

What did you make of Connolly at Centre half?

I'm a big Connolly fan, for me he's on a par with Kenny as a LB with his attacking ability. I thought he had a fine game last night, was caught out once or twice but nothing unexpected when faced with a good attacking team. He certainly appears to have the height and physicality for a CH and has looked comfortable in whatever position he's played , LB, LM and CH . Including as part of a back 3 2nd half Liverpool game.Though he doesn't seem as comfortable at CH as say Holgate, Browning , and Galloway do/did at U21 level and given this competition I think LB will be his best position.

Pretty poor reporting on OS, I could only pick up Derby feed, goal each half , no scorers yet. They are on a pretty impressive run at the moment. Great to be top , finishing in the first four is enough to get them into the final deciding play offs between 4 North teams and 4 South teams.
