Everton Youth Teams Thread

Charlie Whitaker was really highly rated before his prolonged series of injuries.

Is it too late for him now to push for the senior team if he stays fit?

Personal opinion: it's not that it's too late, although he is 21 and never had a loan, it's just I don't think he's anywhere near PL level. Decent little player but physically isn't there and doesn't have like insane pace to make up for it etc.

Harrison Armstrong called up to the England U18s and Eli Campbell called up to the U20s. Albeit after about 5 injury withdrawals for both
Doug, as we know, is also in the u18s with Armstrong . I have mixed feelings for Armstrong , it’s nice recognition for him but he needs to start a game or otherwise he’d be better training with us.

While the club usually do a full “ international watch “ , these are the games England u18 are playing, there’s usually a stream/ YouTube live. I’ m not sure which time zones are used.
Chris Rigg the Sunderland midfielder is the one to watch out for apart from Harrison.
England v Sweden
U18 International
3pm, Friday 11 October
Marbella Football Centre

England v Netherlands or Ukraine
U18 International
3pm, Monday 14 October

That's a strong group of midfielders (don't know who's dropped out from list i got off wiki) in Armstrongs position.

Jack Fletcher is rated very highly at United (Darren's son)
Nyoni has experienced first team football with der reds
Chris Rigg is starring for Sunderland at the moment in the championship
Sol Sidibe is getting minutes at Stoke off the bench (son of Mamady)

Jack Fletcher has dropped out due to injury and I assume Harrison is his replacement. Mheuka from Chelsea has also dropped out, he’s a forward.

Surely from U16' to U21's the formation and style of play should match the 1st team squad. Could this be the reason no players ready for the 1st team understanding of play, formations and not playing dinosaur football

Why?

The manager will be gone in 8 months.

It makes sense at someone like Liverpool while Klopp was there for a prolonged amount of time, but at a club that has a constant churn over of managers as we do/have had.....would it not make more sense to either a) set tehm up as the youth coaches see fit, the best way to hone there skills and maybe work on certain attributes or b)set them up in a way that may be more of a popular way to play in 3-4 years time,

Personally i think they have gone for b. The 3-4-2-1 is getting used more and more over the past 18 months

Still U16, I think he was in Switzerland for that cup, wasn’t he?

Also an interesting one on that Wales Squad - Marlie Neil who is at Huddersfield now was in the Everton system and I think had a U18 appearance or two last year.
I don’t recall him to be honest. Jayden Lienou was In a recent Wales u17 squad , we let him go in June and he went to Man City , not a move that happens often, he’d been a regular with Wales youth .
