That was yrs ago and they were very much unproven then. Unfortunately we can't hold on to all our youth players incase a spot opens up in 4/5 years time and they also happen to improve enough to fill it.
Unproven one played left back for the USA & Lookman cost 4-5 million with top after him - they never got a run in the team or on the bench ....
We just sell out young players = fact .....
Robinson had Leighton Baines and Lucas Digne in front of him. It would have been negligent of the manager to not pick either of them just to give him a run in the team.
Negligent to sell him to Wigan for £1 million same as Lookman who we beat top clubs to sign him for 4-5 million , Tom Cannon etc its just an annoying theme - while OAP players on massive wages play in our team one is 39 years old !
Joey whilst I appreciate your sentiment your figures are wrong. We sold Antonee to Wigan for £2.5M and 25% sell on. We did really well on him. We bought Lookman for £7M and sold him for £16M. Not bad at all.
Really well - you are deluded even the other lot are looking at Robertson - we are looking to fetch in replacements & are struggling atm ....
The truth hurts - we cannot in the future hang on to past it players & let good yoth players go - end of !
Saying I’m deluded is a bit rich when you are factually incorrect. We have made mistakes in which young players we sell, all clubs do, but at least we made a profit on the two you mentioned.
Those sales above are give away prices - try fetching players in of that calibre now ?cost us a fortune!
Lookman struggled up until he went to Atalanta. Robinson was running around the lower leagues. The club have been very poor transfer wise but those two have emerged as good players much later than some players do. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have them than say Mykolenko or Harrison but the sales were years apart.
….i remember posting on here at the time that getting rid of Robinson was a mistake. The promise was there but the speed was obvious. The problem as I recall was a couple of serious injuries at key stages but Baines was coming to the end of his career and the door was opening just as he was ditched.
Not many get away but you have to wonder if we’d have been better off keeping Cannon rather than celebrating 25% of his sell-on.
Erm Digne arrived a year before Robinson left, Eggs. He left because he had no chance of any meaningful minute. Pretty sure Galloway was ahead of him too.
