Everton Youth Teams Thread

Sounds like a great game, hope Everton TV does it justice. Good to see Callum Connolly back in the goals again, I was getting concerned he didn't score in the last game , last thing a youngster of his age needs is to have his confidence dented by a barren run - still I guess as he's a left back its to be expected :-) . Some goal scoring machine!

....I think 'attitude' is basically not being scared of a game of footy. It's about being fearless and as you say that is often an innate feature which is difficult to develop. It's why some less talented players can make a successful living at the game and also why a mix of real talent and attitude is a route to the top.

i think being scared of playing footy and being scared of playing footy in front of 40,000-80,000 people week in week out is a bit of a difference. footballers at league 1 level don't necessarily have less talent than premier league players, they're just not as consistent and probably don't have the right mentality to succeed in higher pressure.

You will get players who just feel at home on the big stage and at new clubs and others who take years to finally settle someone and get accustomed. I think mentality and attitude has a big role in being a footballer and a major factor in which youngsters make it to the top and which ones fall just short.

I can't believe how many goals Connolly scores. Maybe he'll be moved forward onto the left wing, although he does pretty well at LB.

What position does charsley play?
Well normally he's a forward , played a number of positions up front, usually on the right. Think he came on for Ireland U21s earlier in the season, again as a forward. Cracking that they are giving him a go at right back , you'd believe he's got lots of attacking intent in him, and Loius Gray the GK was complimentary about him after the City game.
