All this money invested in academies by City and Chelsea. What's the point of being top of the U18 league and winning youth silverware when they're never going to get a sniff of the first team? Almost makes one wonder if the point all this investment has nothing to do with developing them for the first team.

Well done to City , these are the first points they've dropped in the Final league, and we were one of only two teams to beat them in the North League.
Chelsea need to beat Blackburn to take 2nd spot away from us . Apart from the aberration against Liverpool , and a narrow defeat to Chelsea they've done pretty well again this year. Last three years have been 1st , 2nd , and 2/3 RD pretty consistent particularly given the strength of the Cityand Chelsea Acadamies.

In terms of the current u21 and u18 teams no. All players recruited pre RM and style unchanged.

This is spot on. We haven't had the credit for what we've done in the last 2 home games. We have given 4 local lads, (ie at our academy from before under 16's a league debut. Take the lot across the road, who are their last 4? Rossiter, Kelly, Flannogan and Mellor? You are talking we've given more debuts to local lads in the last 3 league games than teams like Liverpool do in a decade and probably Chelsea have done in a generation.

I just hope that we pick the right manager to carry on this development and build a winning first team.

U16 lost 2-1 to city. Actually a good result, they beat Liverpool 9-0 a fortnight ago!

Thats a very respectable result. City's under 16's are frightening but will do will to keep hold of them. I know one lad has gone to Liverpool recently.

While I agree that the credit lies with Unsworth , Sheedy and the other coaches , in fairness to him at least four of last nights U21 team were recruited externally by Martinez - Galloway, Holgate, Henen and Foulds . Hewelt came about the same time. Bill of course is ecstatic as he told him he'd lead the team to a top four spot.

Beni Baningime is a busy boy , made a first start for the u21s last night , sub tonight. Unsy has some nice things to say about him at the end of his E TV interview. Lavery doing the reverse, sub last night , start tonight.
