Just watched Toulon tournament with the U20's (well, U21's) and I can't help but appreciate the work Martinez did with our academy. Aside Galloway we have no real presence at that age group, it's like the forgotten one's in that age bracket. It's a real testament to the work Martinez did with the academy in his time here that we're so well represented in the younger teams (and even some captains) compared to the U21's.

Nothing against Martinez but I don't think his three years here hugely influenced our current u17/18/19s, I think one of the things that have improved our players in those younger ages was the fact that they are some of the first years to have been at Finch Farm from a very young age (rather than Bellefield).

i like dyson, works hard and his physique is awkward to deal with but cant see him ever playing in the premier league.
brewster maybe but hes barely even played u21 football yet, we'll see how he goes next season.
Good news, I really hope he make something of his undoubted talent. When's he's was on form he was great to watch.
Regarding Unsworths comments about 7 or 8 ready to play in first team either now or next 12 months who do we think can have an impact next season? Pennington, Kenny, Davies and Dowell are ready to me. Connolly looks like he needs a little bit more time. We don't know how Ledson and Walsh will come back from their loan spells, Williams has just had an operation.

I think Pennington, Davies and Dowell I think are ready to join up with the first team squad. I would imagine Ledson & Kenny are very close. Then of the rest Connolly, Walsh, Williams, Henen, Holgate are a bit off still but may be able too. Of that list maybe Joe Williams is the nest closest if he can fill out a bit.
