Everton Youth Teams Thread

Just an FYI Rossiter let his contract run out because of lack of game time to move on; bold decision but can't fault him for wanting minutes elsewhere. He's a good player.

As is Williams, swift recovery for the captain hopefully.
He is out for six months, it will be nearly Christmas before he is back, tough luck and difficult to take when some of your teammates get a run in the first team.

Yeh I was kind of expecting him to make the first team at the same time as Davies and Connolly for at least training as I think he offers something they don't in his tenacity. He reminds me of a Lee Cattermole-esque warrior of a player but does need to bulk up which I'm sure he will.

Also, I'm expecting Baningime to move up sooner rather than later he's always impressed me.

There's been a bit in the Scottish press about how Rangers have managed to bag Rossiter on the cheap, £250k ish. as its a " cross border move", and believe they'll sell him on for £10mill. Wasn't he keeping Ledson out of the U19s when he was having a poor spell early season? It's the kind of issue that could develop for us with so many bubbling under , wanting a chance , maybe even good enough for a stop gap game or two but not ready for a squad place. So a lack of game time means an attractive offer of 1st team football from elsewhere appeals. Unsy and Royle will gave a key role to play in making sure our youngsters have not only opportunities to impress the new manager but also the right development path, whether at FF or on loan.
It could be of course that Rossiter is just looking for a round about route to get to his belovedBlues, but he'd be even further back in the queue with us .

And in similar news on players in that u19 team, Reece Oxford of WHU is refusing to sign a long term deal , apparently he's got 2 years to go, so they'll accept offers of £10 mill. He was alternating with Davies as captain of u17/18 at one time , then he got promoted up a year after his highly promising PL debut. You've got to believe that kids of 17 don't suddenly get this into their head without some direction from an agent, and a "hint " to the agent from some team that they'd be interested in him.

Bilic refused to let Oxford go with the rest of the England U17s to a World cup, an invaluable experience that he had worked hard to attatin. Bilic said he needed him not to get burnt out because he'd be used in the first team.....and then played him for less than 90 total mins over all competitions for the rest of the entire season.

That would have made me keen to leave to work with another manager tbh.

Rossiter ,had an injury and was just coming back towards the end of the season, he wasn't happy with the contract offered, and a few decent clubs after him.
Have seen quite a bit of him in schools football , he was really good, better all around game than Ledson at that level in my opinion ,unless the injury has done him i expect him to do really well up there.

Haha, I can just see it now, Celtic Park, first league OldFirm Derby for about four years, Joey Barton kicking Patrick Roberts up in the air and the other two scousers kicking lumps out of each other too! Oh and David Moyes having a spat with Mark Warburton for good measure.

I don't think Rossiter was keeping him out of the side, Ledson just wasn't selected. Generally at most age group Ledson was captain of England squads.

Rossiter was a tidy player but too lightweight. He is not worth anything like 10 million. I would say we currently have 3 if not 4 better central midfielders on our books who are around his age.

Think if it turns out well for Rossiter and he could prove to be a good asset I'd bring him here. Lad is a big blue and goes the game when he can. Seems to have a decent head on his shoulders. Hopefully we won't need him as the lads from our system seem better than him but it may happen a few years down he line

Where did you hear about him refusing a new deal and them taking £10mil fot him?

We should be in there...

I think this is a pretty good shout. Very difficult for him to go from them to us directly. Plus getting a game every week at Rangers will be good for him. I'm not sure it puts him behind the current lads necessarily, unless they are given the opportunity to play at Championship level or for us in the next couple of years.

without a doubt agents. They probably want players to leave every season and they get a percentage of signing fees etc. it will become more commonplace as the years go by.
