Everton Youth Teams Thread

we have some quality strikers coming up the age groups, brewster, lavery and broadhead. then the new lad we've signed from coventry.
Yeah Sambou looks a good addition and Dominic Calver-Lewin , 19 year old at Sheffield Utd , is apparently still in the pipeline. We have been very specific in targeting perceived areas of weakness in our Youth teams e.g. Foulds, Holgate defenders, no new MF s due to strength there. What the Sambou signing and Calver-Lewin interest do suggest is that we don't feel too confident that the 19plus year old forwards will make it at PL level e.g. Henen, McAleny, Leandro, Duffus, Dyson. As far as I could tell none of the above were training with the 1st team. It will be interesting to see who the attaking players are at u21 level, I would go for a mixture of Sambou, Lavery, Brewster, Broadhead and Evans to see who has the best potential out of these . All are still 18 or under I think so plenty of time to develop them properly but , who knows we could find a bolter from amongst them who makes an unexpected leap forward.

Looks like Davies and Dowell (and Conor Grant) have gone with the first team for preseason. Walsh is with the U21s - and so is McAleny, so can't see him being here after the window closes.

Yeah saw that pic with Walsh on my phone, a bit disappointed for him but plenty of time yet. Banigime, Feeney, Evans from u18 but no Lavery (boo !) . Also no Brewster in that picture either and a few seem to have been left behind, all will be clear soon enough.

Lavery has travelled with the U21's but no Brewster.
Ta, I see he and Jack Kiersey have joined up from u18 training. Kiersey is an interesting one, he seemed to be very much under the radar most of the time in his first season scholar, nothing special compared to others like Banigime. But he seemed to step up a gear at the Dallas tournament bringing a higher intensity , higher pressing game to the team with a good work rate.

Four GKs in that squad, no Hewelt though , I assume he's with 1st team ? Similarly with Holgate , is he with 1st team ?

Yes mate - from the U21's these are with the first team in Austria: Hewelt, Holgate, Jones, Davies, Grant, Dowell, Henen & Rodriguez. Add to that Galloway, Pennington & Garbutt.

I presume Gethin Jones is there as right-back cover since Kenny and Connolly are on international duty. I don't suspect him or Grant to be in the first team this season. Surprised myself Walsh isn't with them but he is younger than those.

Rodriguez & Henen gone to Austria

Everton’s first-team squad have used Austria as a pre-season base for a number of seasons and are based in a region previously used by Spain ahead of Euro 2012.

Everton squad: Robles, Stekelenburg, Hewelt, Baines, Jagielka, Oviedo, Garbutt, Galloway, Holgate, Pennington, Jones, Gibson, Cleverley, Besic, Barry, Davies, Grant, Dowell, Kone, Mirallas, Lennon, Niasse, Deulofeu, Rodriguez, Henen.

Delighted for John, always seemed a nice lad and glad that, although it didn't work out with us, he has found success elsewhere.

Looked great whenever I saw him, and thought he'd break through to our first team. But alas, like so many others, he's sold before been given a proper chance. Good for him though.
