Iirc they did the same with Ledson who had also been captain, perhaps to give them a bit of a break to avoid burnout and give others a tryout?

Which is fantastic but surely the club wouldn't stop him from going away for the U/19 Euro's just so he can go to a training camp.
Which could make sense, he's only just turned 18 two weeks ago so he'd be bottom age but this is the U/19 European Championship, I would presume the manager picked who he thought was the best squad.

Well we released Baines and Jagilelka as lads, and bought them back, so maybe John makes it back by working his way up through the league?

Davies was never in that age group alongside Ledson/Kenny/Connolly, a few months ago he was playing for the U17s. He's probably just not been considered because he's too young.
....I wouldn't have been surprised had Walsh been with the first team, he looks the part. Glad to see Banagime make the step up, very impressed with him last season. So difficult for forwards like Brewster, I think he might have to prove himself at a higher level than Stockport.
The reasons for Davies not in u19s are covered above, the surprise for me is that Dowell wasn't included. It's a tight England bunch who have largely grown up together in the past few years so difficult to break into, but his u21 form and PL debut warranted consideration. A chance for him though to be fresh for pre season and make his mark.
As nice as it is for the club to have players in the England set-up with the timing of this tournament I'd rather none of them were there and were all around the first team to be given a chance to impress Koeman some more.
Read that as Kenny RB and Connolly at LB; something has definitely gone on with Ledson since start of last season with Rossiter starting ahead of him. I'm going to be cheeky and stream this game so will let you know how the lads get on.
Yeah, given Ledson used to be captain of this side there has been a definite recent shift although didn't Rossiter used to be captain himself?
