Unlucky thatLedson almost scores. Great save.

That was a typical EngLand youth performance for me, well drilled and disciplined at the back and in midfield and up front 3 or 4 talented individuals who never seem interested in playing as a team . I'll confess that I only watch these games if an Everton player is involved so tend to focus solely on them , how they are positioned , rewind look again at their involvement etc. Connolly had a sound first half , good heading ability when needed and his talent probably summed up in the space of five minutes when he scooted down the left and curved a ball forward with his left foot then a few mins later slid a ball out of defence to Oji with his right. Shame he got injured. Kenny did all that was required of him as well. Ledson didn't really make a big impact but nearly scored a great goal.
It was interesting to hear just how many first team games most of these players played in last season compared to all our players , it appears that Rossiter played in more games for the RS than all our young players put together.
A mix of cumulative thoughts really mate, just that Rossiter's stats had been mentioned . It reminded me how little game time our own youngsters got last season. The fact that 5 made their debuts shouldn't hide that most of their minutes were in the last game. Virtually all outfield England players appeared to have started a number of first team games , none of our 3 started a game for us, it shows the competition they are up against when it comes to catching selectors eyes. Hopefully things will be different this season.sarcasm?

Yeah, all three are well known and established in the set up. It was interesting watching Ledson when he came on playing in the DFM role, he fitted in quickly without being spectacular. When Davies has played the same role for the England u17/u18 he always struck me as being similar to Ledson. Davies's 1st team impact for us startled me , he was allowed a bit more freedom to play a high energy game and thrived. It's great experience being in the England set up but sometimes it can stifle them a bit to one system. You could also say it's a testament to their ability that they're getting picked and started ahead of others with little-to-no first team minutes.

Ledson had a lovely chance at the end of the game, great effort matched by a good save. Hope to see more of him, honestly think McCarthy, when underperforming like he did at parts last season, should yield to give Ledson a go sometime this season.
