Everton Youth Teams Thread

Game ends 1-1,man utd missed sitter in injury time, that point has moved us to 4th,but the current 4th place team Blackburn are 0-0 at half time, and will also have game in hand after todays, could be 5 behind 4th place if they win today and game in hand
Good result with under strength team against second placed Man Utd.

Think we still have home game to play against Blackburn so could still grab that 4th spot in the play offs.

we do mate,we play Blackburn at home 11th feb,Blackburn did indeed win today,3-0 v west brom, and they are in 4th place 3 points above us with a game in hand,so that game in feb then is big provided we win our next u18s game at middlesbrough next sat,,,blackburns game in hand is against middlesbrough this tuesday afternoon

Indeed. I think there were only 4 second year scholars in the outfield squad the rest were either 1st year or u16s / not scholars yet. A team of similar composition got thumped 5-1 at home at the start of the season by united. It's nice to think that 6 months training at the academy has helped them gel.
Fraser Hornby is an interesting one. He's clearly got goals him in , but the last few games it's his near misses that have featured most. He's certainly a talent to be developed, but is it his size which has enabled him to make the transition from midfield to striker so will be found out later, or is he a great talent just finding his way around a new position so will get better. I love these intriguing issues that we can watch unfold hopefully over the next year or so to give the answer.

People will go on about City and Chelsea being the best academies. We have matched their league performances in recent years. We are lightyears ahead of them in players being brought through for our club. Like Liverpool (but on a bigger scale) they buy in the best talent. Our academy is the best at what it does by a long chalk. Liverpool's is ok, but miles behind us, and Gerrard will not make a massive difference at all.

I have some experience of attending academies over the last 18 months or so addmititly at the early age stage, and I can tell you cities academy is outstanding and knocks Evertons into a cocked hat, the coaches are outstanding and they are meticulous in their work. Without going into to much detail catch whatever Everton are doing so right in the older age groups, that is not translated into the age group I've witnessed
