Everton Youth Teams Thread

Indeed. It may sound harsh but loaning out the likes of Dyson, Leandro , McAleny and Jones is our U23 equivalent of the first team clear out. I can't see any coming back and having a career with us , but all are young enough to make a career in the game so good luck to them.
I was a wee bit disappointed we didn't get any more new U23s faces in but it's a chance for promising u 18s like Feeney, Baningime , Kiersey to make a mark and to see if they rate 1st year Scholars like Hornby and Deny high enough to give them a shot at U23s .

Despite all the loans etc only Dyson from Monday's squad that beat Man U is missing and the team that finished the game was one of the youngest we've fielded this season. It's exciting to see if we can hold onto top spot and if these youngsters can rise to the challenge.

I was under the impression that Jones was highly regarded? Welsh captain ain't he?

Yeah he captains Wales U21s, my comment was " can't see any having a career with us" , and while he's a competent full back/wing back I can't see him getting ahead of Kenny or Connolly for instance and forcing his way into our first team squad. If he can establish himself in the Championship this season then he's got himself a good career and who knows one that could lead him to the PL and Wales caps.

Man city u23s beat sunderland 4-1 last night to go 3 points behind us,really 4 with GD,we can go back to 6 clear [really 7 with GD] v Arsenal home monday night,we need 15 points at max from 7 games to win the u23s league, would be 12 points at max if we beat 2nd place city in a months time

Blackburn u18s in 4th,a place above us with a 4 point gap, play sunderland u18s later,a win for them would off course create a 7 point game with us having game in hand,,,our next u18s league game is Blackburn next week

5'7"/5'8". What's the fuss all about. There's loads of players that size in pro football.

The thing is he's not at all lightweight, like Osman say. The lad knows how to look after himself.

Worth remembering that Makelele was 5'6" too, and was arguably the best defensive midfielder of his day. Iniesta is about the same height, Modric and David Silva too.

Blackburn have just GOT A PRETTY LUCKY LUCKY WIN v bottom placed sunderland with a winner comming in injury time, sunderland were the better team from 35mins onwards and deserved to win, blackburn even went down to 10 men for last 10mins after they had a defender sent off for arm swing/elbow,sunderland actually sounded like they were going to win, listerned to the whole game on radio,
that was there 2nd win in 3 games were the same player scored a winner in injury time

TABLE -WERE IT COUNTS FOR US

4th place - Blackburn rovers 37 points from 19 games
5th place - Everton 30 points from 18 games
