Everton Youth Teams Thread

The "Super Group" we compete in is U19s mate, but it a bit demoralising for him seeing as he was one of our stars last year. I thought he'd gone out on loan to Southport though?
He did, thought he'd do well there as, apparently, he is a local lad but, like some other loans, he had a good start and then dropped out of the line-up. Eventually he was recalled/sent home.

Just read an interesting piece on Anthony Evans where Paul Tait, Assistant u18 coach, says he's now " 6ft 2in maybe 6ft 3 and at 6ft 3 we've been working on him nodding in balls at the back post" . Evans was always tall and gangly for his age , seems he's grown a bit more. He burst onto the scene pre season 20 months ago scoring 3or4 goals for the U23s as a 16 year old but has seemed to mark time this season. It will be interesting to see how his current loan spell at Morecambe works out .

His progress seemed to halt a bit between the ages of 16-18 and never kicked on from what was an amazing start in the reserves. If he has continued to grow though it probably helps to explain it, growing pains/body changing etc.

If he's 6 ft 3 now we have a potentially really strong player on our hands.

Frasier hornby, who scored loads of goals for the under 18's pre Christmas. Seems to have gone missing since, injury?

But on the various clips I saw for the 18's he looked another really big player.

Always rated Evans from first seeing him at 16, hope he can kick on, looks another talented lad.

Yes Hornby has always impressed me but he's been injured I think.

That's the first thing that came into my mind when I saw Blueloons comments about his growth spurt. let's hope that's the reasons behind his apparent slowdown in development this season.

The thing that has impressed me most about Evans when I have seen him are the intelligent runs he makes from midfield. That's instinct and can't be taught. Reminds me a bit of McDermott in his prime for the filth.

Yes he looked to have a lot about his, comfortable on the ball, a quick/strong runner, good movement and an eye for a goal. Seems to lose a bit of confidence and that may well have come from his body changing shape. It will be interesting if he can force himself into the under 23's next season.

Interesting that Evans and Hornby share similarities. The bits I saw of Hornby playing midfield for Scotland U17s/19 showed a skilful midfielder, but not set -the - world on fire. Pushing him further forward has reaped rewards for him goals wise and yeah he's a big lad and at a year younger than Evans you would think he'd end up about 6ft 2 ish too, though it doesn't always wOrk like that. Their similarities are in their skill with the ball that goes with their size, while it's early days yet, both seem to be more natural No10s than out and out strikers, though Hornby may turn out to be a bustling no9 if he continues to grow , bulk out and keep scoring goals.

Evans has been an interesting one for me. Was picking between him and Walsh as the youth diamond people were trying to guess who it was.

He was so far ahead of his age group and was consistently performing. I was surprised when he dropped back to u18s, which resulted in a change of fortunes for them. Thought he was a number 10 but appears to be leading the line.

I would have him back in u23 to be honest, if DCL is out. Seems a very cultured and talented player.. very!

Not sure how they see him anymore as I thought he was up there with anyone at one point in terms of management opinion.

High hopes for him still! Maybe not first team yet but should be first 11 for the u23. Not sure DCL is better.. still not 100% sure on him.

city 1 goal down in their game, nearly at half time.
it was live before, was watching it till it disappeared, scorer hit post just before ht,still 1-0
