FA Cup.

Fans remember when you win things and in my opinion it builds a winning mentality in squads.

The Champions League would be great, would likely quicken our ascent to the top tier in this league by attracting more money and better players to the club. But we've likely budgeted for without it and won't affect long term plans, plus I'd fancy our chances of winning the Europa League with our manager and several quality additions to the squad.

We never kicked on after winning cup in 95....
So champions league for me
Plus if we qualify there’s a very good change the rs don’t do a double win win
We sort of kicked on for 12 months. From Xmas 95 to Xmas 96. We were only behind Utd on points won. Unfortunately it’s was over 2 seasons.

We had injuries at the start of the 95/96 season. Lost kanchelskis on debut, unbelievably v Utd. I think Duncan was out as well.

Then started quite well 96. But fell apart at Xmas with injuries and the rumours of kanchelskis wanting to leave

We have had a million threads about this. I think the summary is this;

Financially and possibly longterm with regards who we can sign then CL is better. (although who did Leicester sign after their title win?)

For the fans it has to be the FA cup every day, i was 15 in '95 and it was one hell of a day!

Finishing 4th under Moyes was a great achiement but it really doesn't compare to actually winning something.

So FA cup all the way for me!
But we didn't qualify for the Champions League under Moyes. We made the play-offs, which is a totally different thing. I can understand why many would prefer the Cup - maybe even I would - but qualification for the CL would transform Everton from, at best, the best of the rest to a bona fide member of the Big Six and attracting players way beyond our current pull. It vindicates Moshiri and encourages him to continue on the road ahead. It allows us to keep any player we wish to keep as we can now match what any other club in the country can offer - top level European football. It means we are big time for the first time in over 30 years.

Winning the cup would be marvelous, memorable, and delightful. Then we lose 4-1 to Spurs next time out...

Yes, we did. Then that lot won it. Then the rules became murky and our qualifier was against a team that made the semi-finals. In which we had a perfectly good goal disallowed that would have allowed us to level the tie at 2-2 with the momentum in our favour. Do you really think that happened by accident?

Oh yes by Mr Mafia who retired as a ref but happened to come back to ref one more game. Which game? Our game? I know we get called bitter etc...but do you really think that was not dodgy as feck?

FA cup please. We ain't winning the CL and although yes it would open doors to getting a better team, the whole point would be to win something. Let's cut out the middle man and go straight to glory. Just imagine the scenes.

Please tell me what the infringement was when Duncan scored to make it "2-0" at their place.

Jacko scored a screamer at Bristol City that really got us "out of jail",they battered us on the day on a mud heap, big lad up front for them had a mare, great day out that one :)
Was at that one had a great day until after the game going back to the car Bristol city fans coming down the flyover like the film Zulu dawn to scrap shat my kecks ,never forgot that haha.

You questioned who we signed after 95 cup
Win and 2005 champions league qualification.

PJ wasn’t at the club when we qualified in 2005.

It went pear shaped with Joe because of Johnson selling kanchelskis and injuries. We got unlucky losing Parkinson, hinchcliffe & Tony grant in the same game. Joe wanted to sign Tore Andre flo and was turned down by the board and walked
PJ was the owner when we won the cup.

Who did we sign?

I know PJ was long gone by 2005. We signed Phil Neville, umm maybe Van de Meyde? I don't remember....

For all that was crowed about the Newcastle sides of the mid 90's and how their fans think it makes them a big club to this day I'll bet they would've loved a Cup win somewhere. It really would've solidified that side as memorable not nearly men.

I was fortunate enough to see us win the 1995 FA Cup as a teenager, win something else and I'll be sure to cherish it to the maximum.

Well Matt Jackson disagreed :P

Champions league sets us up to win more trophies in coming years. Carlo+new stadium coming+champions league. We’ll be beating players away from our gates.

FA cup every day of the week.

Runners up league is just a gimmick. When its the European Cup and knockout again with jeopardy let me know.

I’ve told you, we signed kanchelskis and came very close to getting collymoore. The following summer we bought Gary speed and we had bought barmby as well. My point is we were a big club still then and could attract very good players. Wasn’t down to winning the cup.

Yes we had kenwright and dithering Dave. Who botched up the Bellamy signing and probably Scott Parker too. We bought koldrup amd Simon Davies from Spurs. And had bought James beattie in January. And turned Arteta’s loan into a permanent. They may not be 100% correct, but probably not far off
