It's a tough one. Top 4 and CL footy, generally, is what you need to attract better players.

But if we win a trophy, which still puts us in the Europa, or even if not, to get 5 or 6, with Carlo at the helm, still might be enough to get the better players we need.

FA Cup for me

Champions League qualification is a long term game changer. We attract a different calibre of player more easily.

If we win a cup, we get that monkey off our back but apart from a bit of a mentality shift it doesn't change that much.

Both are obviously better than none, but qualification for the Champions League means you have more chance of winning cups long term, so that's the one I'd pick.

The League Cup remains a waste of space and should be jettisoned at the first opportunity by playing the reserves or under 18s.

FA Cup for me

Only one of the last 12 winners of the FA Cup were a non-Champions League team, being Wigan. They got no benefit whatsoever from it.

The last 7 straight winners of the League Cup have been Champions League teams.

It's a cast iron fact that if you want to win trophies, you realistically have to be in the top four.

Champions League for me, the FA Cup isn’t the competition it used to be when we last won it. 1995 really was the era where it lost its meaningness, if that is such a word!. 1999 or 2000 it became irrelevant and finalists no longer went into recording studios to record awful songs to celebrate their participation.

In South America, domestic cup winners go to their equivalent of the Champions League, which to me keeps the value in these competitions up.

Any normal season I would say FA Cup 100%....but without the fans in the stadium, and the pubs open to celebrate, it wouldn't really be the same....

Champions league football, unthinkable this time last year, would really help Carlo build an even better team...and fans will be back for some massive European nights next season
