Hello very much

I’ve never been one to blame the fans for us being currently crap, and certainly not those in the ground.

I’ve always been sympathetic to those who boo at the end of a half.

However I can’t help but thinking this sort of stuff really doesn’t help anyone’s frame of mind;

I mean, he says he’s joking once pulled up but when I said a few weeks ago that once a manager loses his 100% record he’s done for I think I was closer to the bone than even I thought.

We have become the poisoned chalice we always feared and I can’t help think it’s in part down to this.

It also a perspective thing.

The lad here is definitely baiting people but I do genuinely wonder how much peoples brains, mine included, have dealt with the last 2 or 3 years and see Everton as their relief from it all, I use Everton and Music as my way of "shutting off" but Everton arent giving that at the moment so its easier to "lash out at" as that is what has been building up inside many of us, Socials are the perfect avenue for this for so many as its "behind the mask of anonymity"

Its in no way an excuse for the way people behave etc but it has to be a factor and now add in a mix of uncertainty surrounding the club and Ukraine/Russia thing, its a hotbed of uncertainty, fear, worry etc etc so peoples coping mechanisms are out of sync, so we end up with this type of behaviour.

Im as guilty of it as the next man and its embarrassing when you reflect on some of the "actions/reactions". Although I'm fairly chill most of the time but i have defo seen a shift change in my tolerance and speed of reaction. Not good.

A constant bombardment of negativity does not nothing for the mind, body not soul.

Everton needs to be the escapism that we all need form the daily grind but Everton has become embroiled in that and so our outlets are limited.

The fans aren't in any way to blame for the malaise the club finds itself in. When you look around at the historically 'big' clubs, name me a single fan base that would have accepted a 100th of the crap that Everton fans have had dumped on our heads.

The Red Shites were well on their way to burning their own club to the ground after a few months of Roy Hodgson, whilst we put up with that level of tripe season in, season out. Look at how Arsenal fans have 'accepted' their fall from grace.

It's not just the fact that we haven't won anything for 27 years, we have barely done anything at all for 27 years. 1 final, 1 top-four finish, a few semis, a couple of half-arsed goes in the Europa League. In 27 years, for a team that is ever present in the Premier League, that is just pitiful. Yet the fans have never once been unruly en-masse towards the club.

If any of our players or staff are affected by anything that some lad on twitter called michael says then they have an even weaker mentality then I ever imagined

The thing that always gets me about the fans getting stick is that exactly what it is that they're doing wrong seems to change depending on the situation. Sometimes we're too passive, happy clappers, never rocking the boat or demanding success and no other 'big' club would accept it like we do so the club keeps a small time mentality and never wins anything. Other times we're too demanding, too negative, reducing the players to nervous wrecks because we're just so damn mean to them.

The reality is we have a very passionate support which is getting sick of being kicked in the teeth and at the moment is absolutely panic stricken and so prone to overreaction. We have some idiots in the fanbase and some people who know nothing about football, just like every team does. It's only because you go to more of our games/are in a social media echo chamber that you think our fans are any different to those of other clubs.

That’s just one idiot on twitter. It has no bearing on the team whatsoever.

Is this Michael lad's second name Azul by any chance?

If you look at how the club has been over the three decades or so, it’s understandable there would be some cynical feelings within a fan base of a substantial amount.

Every fan base has its differing views, some logical , some ludicrous, some cynical and so on. There’s bound to be a fed up feeling after years of a step or two forward and three or four back.

I’m not one for straight up whatever the cost obedience, mainly when something doesn’t feel right and things haven’t been right at the club for decades. I’m not saying that’s what you are putting across, it isn’t .

Sometimes I get the impression , right or wrong, some of our fans at times will say how it is and others don’t like that. That it causes a tremendous negative effect , the whole “just get behind the team” shouts. Whilst I’m for that, it shouldn’t be used to dismiss people pointing out clear issues that has stagnated and proceeded to rot the club.

The atmosphere against Leeds was great, hopefully it will be like that against Wolves and Newcastle.
