The active undermining of Benitez by fans in order to get him out has contributed to where we are right now.

That is the elephant in the drawing room in this debate.

As soon as the club lost a handful of games in the autumn there was a stampede to destabilise Benitez - and those players dont need much encouragement to down tools.

If we'd been a house united instead of divided against itself we wouldn't be in this mess now.

Every fan who has suffered through this season and the last 5 has earned the right to their opinion.

I dont agree with the Lampard bit but you can't blame anyone for being thoroughly fed up with this lot.

We were thrown into this mess by Benitez.

He never should have had the job.

If we had unified the house and made clear he shouldn't get the job we wouldn't be here.

Anyone who backed Benitez owns part of this mess too.

Backing the manager means backing the team - which means a better chance of getting points.

My conscience will be clear. I wont have destabilised Everton. Others will have to judge whether they have.

We've got the best home crowd in the league. Where would we be without those fan inspired Arsenal and Leeds wins?

How many games do the home crowd win for the likes of Watford?

What we are talking about here is ours fans on social media, which to me is a very different thing to our fans actually at the match. I think its fair enough for any fan to vent or criticise on any platform they feel they might be heard on the most. It really shouldn't be affecting grown men who live in a professional world where they must be used to all sorts of abuse being hurled at them on social media whether its from their own fans or opposition ones.

At the match though is where it needs to stop. I can't fathom why anyone would think screaming abuse at your own players is ever going to make them suddenly try harder or perform better, in the main it will have the opposite effect on all but the strongest of individuals.

Yes there's loads wrong with the club, most of it not of our doing, and yes there are players and officials taking the mickey out of us all into the bargain. But we really can't give ourselves a free pass if Goodison turns into a cauldron of negativity on matchdays and it leads ultimately to bad results.

The way to “unite” the house would to have never even consider appointing him in the first place! Once Moshiri made that decision it was never going ever to end well for all the reasons previously very well documented on here!

It’s a game of football, lads. If you find yourself abusing players either in person or online then you’re most definitely in the same family as the beauts who abuse referees in kids games.

We’ve bred an entitled section of fans that h less we stamp on it, we CRUSH it, will continue to infect the whole fanbase and normalise that is, let’s be honest, quite vile behaviour for supposed adults to be engaging in over humans playing a sporting game.

Employing him in the first place has contributed to where we are right now.

A truly idiotic appointment that was never ever going to work out.
