I think he has an uphill task with 'the best squad since the 80s'. He'll soon find out what Martinez had to live with in his final period here: they're a bunch of feckin wasters and bottlers most of them.

On the transfer front: I dont see how Koeman can be blamed for the stalling of our 'business as usual' method of selling to buy.
Martinez brought most of them in.

Don't panic, we've still got 4 hours before kick off.
How on earth did we finish up in this mess when even just a few weeks ago there was so much optimism? Whatever else Moshiri is, he's obviously not a fast mover.

Last season it was 'understood' that the squad was underperforming. Stones has gone to be replaced by a seasoned CB, which has made the team/squad stronger, particularly in the short term. Why all the negativity? We have a new manager who is trying to get players in that will further improve the team/squad and is being backed by the board.

Yes. It's just recognising the shambolic position we are in this window at present and trying to look back and account for why it possibly happened this way.

The big clue though is the very late sale of Stones and the relative inactivity before it.

Unfortunately don't have the time to discuss this and your point yesterday more fully, but on the above can I make 2 points:

Firstly the strategy was to go big early on and bring in several marquee signings. This was not dependent upon Stones being sold first. Several factors held up business, the Euros, player holidays but ultimately none of the marquee signings would commit to us for reasons I expressed yesterday.

Secondly City perhaps holding a similar view to your's tried to acquire Stones relatively cheaply in the belief that if our activity was dependent on his sale we'd sell sooner rather than later. We held our ground and City completed as late as they could before the A list cut off date at almost our asking price.

Time now though to put all that aside at least until tomorrow

A ball hasn't even been kicked and you are already saying Koeman isn't the best choice for us.

I think exactly the opposite to you, he's a fantastic manager, and he'll get us up that league, which in turn will help us attract better players to the club.

Martinez has done a lot of damage to our Rep in this league, Koeman will repair it.
That's fair enough if you think he is. I didn't think he was the best man for the job before he took the job and as you say a ball hasn't been kicked so why would I have changed my mind?

What I have also said is Koeman's a very decent competent manager. Moyes with a bit more flair. I'm not unhappy with Koeman. I just don't think he will be as good an appointment as FDB would have been but it's also more the appointment to me represents that the club are aiming not for the top 4 but to get back to where Moyes had us. That's a shame after 2 years when we started each season with a bit more hope than that whether that hope was misplaced or not.

I have however been impressed so far with him in pre season. More than I thought I would.

Well no, if you look at the squad and compare the lists of deadwood people always say we need to get rid of, not 1 of them is a Moyes player, Kone, The Clev, McGeady, Niasse, Moyes left good quality players, Martinez left utter tosh.

So youre suggesting that all the Moyes bought players were giving their all last season? Coleman, Mirallas,Barkley,Howard, etc?

It's ridiculous is what it is, if I supported Everton they way some of our lot do I'd pack it in and go do something else.

You know I've often thought that. If something brought so much pain and anxiety into your life as is often apparent here (at least by what is written) I'd go and find a more rewarding pastime or passion. (Easier said than done, I know)

It is clear to me Moshiri has been trying to spend big on players but they won't come, we've gazumped Chelski for one player, offered bigger wages, offered a bigger fee.

That's not Koeman's fault, it's not Moshiri's either, it's Bobby Brown shoe's legacy he's left, top players will take one look at our bottom half finishes the last two season and think no thanks.

Anyone peddling the notion that we had to sell Stones in order to buy players has rocks in their head to put it politely, utter rubbish is that.

I said it before the summer and I'll say it again, we'll have a boss squad come the end of this window and top 6 is where we are heading.

Exactly our image has been tarnished by the last two seasons.

I refuse to converse with somebody that says Moyes bought Barkley, good day to you sir.

If I could take a pill that made me forget about Everton I would take 10.
