If the words 'we do not have to continue the short term lending' were replaced by 'we did not continue the short term lending' and documentary evidence was in place to confirm land acquisition for a new stadium, then disbelievers become believers.

I dont blame people for having doubts about what goes on at Everton, more especially around debt. Experience tells you it's wise to be cautious where this club is concerned, and it'll take more than reassurances to allay those fears.

Apart from the "documentary evidence" bit, I think this is a fair point.

A press release saying we've paid off the short term debt, won't be renewing it and we've bought land on the docks which we hope to build a stadium on would do the job for most.

Did we ever have a press release to state we had taken out the loans?, if not why should we have one to say they have been paid back?, the dock announcement will come in time

Looks like 'The project' isn't having the pull as first thought mate.
There was some wild projections at just what effect Moshiri joining the club would have. I think there needed to be a more level headed assessment of where and at what pace we were heading.

I go back again to what I've said time after time since he arrived: there needed to be an interview given by Moshiri setting out in broad brushstrokes what he wanted to achieve here and how long he envisaged that would take. At the time I first put that forward it was shouted down as "mind your own business, the owner is under no obligation to reveal anything to you or anyone else". Instead the expectation levels were ramped up and we are where we are now, with a lot of disillusioned people.

Hold on, weren't we promised the Moshiri Effect? Never mind top players wanting to join us for the experience of a EL campaign slog (unlikley), the draw was supposed to be Koeman as a manager and Moshiri's vision for the club.

Well that was always fanciful, imo. The bottom line here is that the early plan over-reached and any notion that top players would arrive should have been ditched early on in the window when they started dragging their feet and playing a game; at that point a Plan B should have been up and running leaving us lots of time to get secondary targets in (that's giving the benefit of the doubt that we weren't still in a sell to buy holding pattern, as per).

Dont make excuses for these people. They hire a lot of people to do that for them without fans contributing.

The only Moshiri effect currently out there is basically his money. The player/agent/club relationship is, and always has been, all about the money. It is what drives the game (unfortunately). However, there is so much money in the premiership now, it is no longer the biggest incentive. Yes, there may well be lots of players eager to play under the Koeman leadership, but the top players will still be drawn to the top CL sides, their football life is too short to waste time on what they would consider a risky venture, no matter how great the manager or the pay. Ego and sense of entitlement will always be an issue with this type of target.

If the rumours are to be believed, then yes, we reached for the stars, yes, you could argue we over-reached, but heck, it is always worth a try, and makes a statement of intent - nothing wrong with that.

However, there comes a time when you have to face reality and go to a plan B. We should not act all surprised and sad if some high calibre marquee rejects us this time around. We should not feel like this window was a failure. Remember, this is a long term job, not a one window magic wand of big name, big money transfer wonderment.
I don't know about anyone else, but I already feel the winds of a positive change, and a vast improvement over the last couple or three seasons.
Of course, only time will tell, and only time will heal the pain of the past.
