  • Has Moyes said he wants Jagielka or is this just another rumour/assumption/ imagination with its roots on the internet?

Moyes hasn't said one thing as far as I'm aware. I would say 95% of the players were linked with and supposed interest is plain made up. One Pogba has gone they have nothing to write about. They are even struggling for factual Joe Hart links.

I reckon Pep will try and turn him into a Busquets type of player.

busquets flatters to decieve tho. im thinking more of a pique type defender, but im not sure he has the mentality for that. only time will tell. be interesting to see what happens. could even end up as the next rodwell. he was signed up by city as 'the nxt big England star'

edit: regards busquets , am i actually being harsh on him, maybe he's the one who does all the boring work for the team, that goes un-noticed

of course mate, never say never I've just always thought of him as a player who you would literally have to volley out of Everton to get rid of him.

I think he's still easily got a good season or 2 left in him, certainly think he will play a big part this season ( though probably in half an hour there will be a yellow bar on SSN saying he's leaving for Sunderland lol )

im thinking williams is more than likey a direct replacement for jags. williams is just a younger, even at 32 , version of jags and has the same leadership qualities

Stones: I do hope Guardiola continues to believe he's the next Bobby Moore. He's going to balls up in a massive game and that'll be City's season over. It's amazing to me how he's perceived as a quality CB. I think what it is is that successive coaches at club and national level have the ego to believe that they can be the one to round out his game. There's nothing there though. To be a top defender you have to have urgency in sensing danger. Stones does not have that antennae. It cant be taught. Sometimes he's compared to Ferdinand. No chance. He was always switched on even if he had to learn a bit of positioning at OT.

Net spending: it's about as useful a tool for measuring intent as we have. It's not perfect in telling you in every window whether you've progressed or not, but as a general rule if you dont have a healthy net spend in this league you may as well pack it in and turn the club into a drop in centre.

As for Stones Dave, he has gone so lets forget him and whether he comes good or not. I think like you he has a bit of a way to go to be a Ferdinand, Terry or for that matter a Labone!!

He's nowhere near that level.

He wont have the bulk of his career at CB, I'm almost certain of that. As said, it's only the conceit of coaches who believe they can bring him to greatness. A few massively costly errors and they'll soon learn to move him in front of the back four.

Honest to God, they must think because he's been here at Everton then he just needs some 'expert' coaching to set him right. They'll learn the hard way how misguided that view is. He's hopeless at defending against quality and always will be.
