He's nowhere near that level.

He wont have the bulk of his career at CB, I'm almost certain of that. As said, it's only the conceit of coaches who believe they can bring him to greatness. A few massively costly errors and they'll soon learn to move him in front of the back four.

Honest to God, they must think because he's been here at Everton then he just needs some 'expert' coaching to set him right. They'll learn the hard way how misguided that view is. He's hopeless at defending against quality and always will be.

I loved the way ManU taught Rooney how to play, now they've taught Fellaini and of course City will teach Stones. It makes you wonder how our coaches ever get a job, or how we seem to recruit or produce decent footballers on a regular basis.........

The general media view is: "That player needs to be taken out of Everton before he's ruined. He needs a bigger stage with expert tuition".

Well, I'm going to love watching Guardiola try and teach the basics of defending to Barnsley's very own Forrest Gump. They'll soon see what we had to put up with here.

and stay a mod here at the same time, could you imagine the fume :D

A mate I once worked with, played cricket with and socialised with re-appeared years later as the Chief Executive of Sussex County Cricket Club. I was watching the south-east regional news one summer's day, covering Sussex vs. the Aussies in 2009 and then he appeared for an interview, cup of tea all over the lounge moment.

Guardiola adapted Martinez into a CB at Bayern; dont be surprised if he does the reverse with Stones when the errors mount up..
He's already said he might play him there when Kompany is fit however he will go on to be primarily a CB. There's also talk he will be converted into a sweeper.

I think he can do best in front of the back four in a 4-1-4-1...a system Guardiola played at Bayern.
That's where people are saying he will play when Kompany is back. Like a sweeper but in front of the back 4 rather than behind.

Remember in Pep's team the CBs are very wide and the full backs are almost midfielders.
