Jesus Christ, that statement best not be real! It's a total loser's statement. I'd thought we had seen the end of this 'fwendly club' defence mechanism nonsense. I really hope it's not going to continue under Moshiri.

It's also bloody unprofessional! Being scared of selling a player just because it might hurt his feelings, what a disgusting load of nonsense!

The only nonsense is people falling for it.

There's no way a pl club chairman could issue a statement to anyone using an existing player as the reason for not signing another player, even though the world and his mother knows we did everything we could to try and sign that player. White has been mugged off here, he has to have been or else we are dealing with a ................

- Ronald Koeman publicly told the fans he wanted another 3 or 4 players, this was after we'd made several signings.

- Ronald Koeman - in my opinion and I am sure in the opinion of many others too - wouldn't have jumped ship from Southampton just for a better contract without being given license to create his own squad.

- Bill Kenwright publicly told the fans that Mr Moshiri has promised "further investment in the summer" (might not be 100% word for word). I'd passionately argue that re-investing 70% of the Stones' money isn't claeed as "further investment".

- Everton ran a season ticket campaign promising things would "never be the same" (again, may not be 100% word for word).

- As many fans feared, it did indeed prove to be sell to buy, regardless of any fancy essays suggesting we needed to sell Stones to fund several 100k a week footballers coming in.

- It appears the manager was given the Stones' money to change the squad around as much as he could.

- Koeman doesn't appear to be a pushover who'd happily waltz into the season with no decent backup striker, no third goalkeeper he kept banging on about.

- Either we've had the most unbelievable run of bad luck in negotiations ever, or the board didn't make the funds available. I know which one I believe, as even if we couldn't attract our A list players, or even our B list players, we sure as hell - particularly with the aid of Mr Buy-Low-Sell-High Director of Football Walsh - should have had C list players lined up.

Everton FC isn't some part time club that's only been around a few years. They have many staff earning an awful lot of money to ensure the squad and club is as strong as it can possibly be. Koeman must be livid this morning, and rightly so. If I were him I'd be questioning why I left Southampton in the first place. One injury to Lukaku and the season is as good as a write off.

I genuinely feel for you if you have such a negative opinion of the team and club you support.

The idea that (i) Koeman and Walsh would join a club without proof of funds available is laughable (ii) it's known that Koeman met Moshiri very early on to discuss targets and budgets and (iii) we would never have got so far into so many deals without providing proof of funding.

A combination of poor execution and several players and clubs using us for their own purposes is the reason for the lower than anticipated levels of activity, not our ability to fund them.

It's fine to criticise the club, they deserve it after this end to the window but do it with accuracy.

A very good post mate. Either the money wasn't available (which I don't believe) or we have completely incompetent people working at the club who should not be working another month with us.

Moshiri is going to have to very quickly consider perception. He has to look at how everything is perceived as this will have a massive impact on the supporter base, potential players/agents and the existing staff. We are the laughing stock of football today. The only way to try and repair some of the damage that has been done is to pinpoint who caused the mess and take decisive action. If Kenwright remains on the board of Everton along with Elstone much more than a couple of weeks ultimately it will be hard to keep faith with Moshiri, whether or not money was made available, as that will be the rubber stamp to what has been arguably our worst window ever (and god there is some competition there).

The club need to nip this one in the bud, pronto. Club chairmen don't text hyperactive tv presenters. This has the potential to make Mosh look very silly if they don't put a lid on it.

Edit: to be clear, I believe this is fake and the club need to clarify that.
