I think the statement is a bluff. NOw excuse me but I cannot beleive it for one moment.

I think it is obviously a case of one person pretending to be somebody else in order to dupe others.

Cheers, Terry.

I genuinely feel for you if you have such a negative opinion of the team and club you support.

The idea that (i) Koeman and Walsh would join a club without proof of funds available is laughable (ii) it's known that Koeman met Moshiri very early on to discuss targets and budgets and (iii) we would never have got so far into so many deals without providing proof of funding.

A combination of poor execution and several players and clubs using us for their own purposes is the reason for the lower than anticipated levels of activity, not our ability to fund them.

It's fine to criticise the club, they deserve it after this end to the window but do it with accuracy.
I'm quietly optimistic we'll be in the mix come January, so let's see if lessons have been learned. As you suggest, there should be plenty of money available, and now there is also plenty of time to identify targets. I think too many of the old brigade are hanging around like a bad smell, proven losers, if you will. Sooner Kenwright is a distant memory, the sooner Elstone is given his marching orders, the better. I thank you for your knowledge sharing this summer, apologise for any comments I've made singling you out, and sympathise with you for the mis-information you passed on in good faith.

In all likelihood there was money available. As indicated above though we do have to think about perception in all of this. If we have people negotiating deals or involved who are that incompetent they really can't have a future with the business any longer.

Making mistakes is forgiveable if painful. However what is now needed is a very clear message to those involved that their performance over the last 3 months isn't good enough and it's time for them to move on. This also needs to be done sooner rather than later as otherwise the rot will set in, the same rot that has existed for 15 years previously. The rot that manifests itself as "plucky Everton" if we leave things to deadline day and don't bring anyone in it doesn't matter as we tried our best.

I will nail my colours to the maste but I think the blame for this lies with Kenwright and Elstone, who have overseen similar shambles. I can see no future for them in the future Everton want to build and it is time for them to leave the board over the coming weeks. Their presence at the club will drag the rest of it back to their level. Moshiri needs to act decisively or he really risks losing the confidence of supporters.

Are people seriously considering that 'statement' has come from Moshiri? He keeps quiet since he bought the club but feels it necessary to send messages to Jim White? Incredible really.

if the quote isn't true then that's one hell of an arrogant move by Sky Sports leaving themselves open for legal action. Maybe several sections of a statement taken out of context?

Jim White is basically taking the mickey out of Moshiri there. It may well be a joke and if it is he will probably find himself in hot water as newspapers run the story. It will be interesting to see the club deny it.

Lets be honest though we have used every excuse under the bus this window. The Pogba deal, Martinez, no Europe, inflated prices, so being a family club would just be the icing on the cake. It may well be a fabrication from White and hope it is, but it needs a statement from the club explaining what happened this window. The absence of such a statement is alarming.

@The Esk: a mixture of naivety and incompetence on the part of our negotiator(s), maybe?

The old saying about "Fool me once ..." springs to mind.

Yet F M allows Elstone the (largely honorific, I gather) new title of Director.

I think we may just be allowing a toe to explore the territory formerly occupied by Barnum & Bailey's ... need to start looking a bit sharper.
