It would seem everything looked great and promising to folk up until the transfer deadline.
We were all on the bus to Happyville, new billionaire owner, new boss, DOF, new tactics on the field, new players, unbeaten, serious talk of a stadium, lots and lots if optimism, then suddenly the bus smashes into the transfer window and the ride over.
Why?
1: This was one of, if not the most insane windows of all time. Lots of records broken, hyperinflation, fake bids, fake rumours, fake texts (oh wait... jury still deliberating that apparently).
2: Lots of assumptions were made by people, including the so called ITKs.
3: Biggest assumption - Billionaire investor=big transfer war chest.
4: Big transfer war chest = marqee signing
5: Instant gratification.
For me, the biggest disappoint so far was the way the whole transfer window business was handled. Not just by the club, but by people on here, acting like we were suddenly the richest club in the land, and could buy the likes of Mata etc. Don't get me wrong, I am all for reaching for the stars, but in this window, where someone like Sissko commands 30 big ones.. What the f??
As for the infamous text:
If it is geniune, then hopefully Mr Moshiri has learned a few vital lessons in how to deal with "friends" in the media and spends some of his investment on a PR expert.
If it is fake, then surely the club should have dragged this Jim White character across the hot coals by now? Again...wtf?
