Yeah reckon there's something in that. It's almost we need a 'name' to get things going.

I agree too, completely. Signing better than what we have currently should be the aim, if we cannot attract what are considered our prime targets.

Yep. We need to throw money at an absolute mercenary, like Robinho at City.

Then sell him after a season or two, once we've been able to attract players not just in it for the cash.

Why would Witsel or this Koulibaly chap kick up a fuss to leave their decent clubs to join us with no Europe to offer? It's not all money it seems which is actually kind of nice.

Hopefully we've learned from this going forward.

I'm not going to listen to the recording again but I'm sure he said that we tried to get him but Napoli wanted 6m. Not that we offered 6m.

Was a bit flippant anyway tbh. One thing Rom cant be labelled is a money grabber.

I actually believed Rom committing to us in the summer would have in itself attracted players to us. But it didnt. So we need to ask what sort of player would we need to buy who would attract others.? And how much would we need to pay?

That's how I heard it too, we agreed to their asking price of £40m and they then upped it to 60m resulting in both us and Chelsea walking away.

Half of the premier league owners are but they're not all challenging for titles are they? Maybe you need to lower you expectations a little, a new ground is a giant leap forward and he needs time to deliver that.
