Nice that it seems that we actually did offer something mental for a player, but does kind of go with the idea that we set our sights a bit too high in the summer and it did indeed come back and bite us. Why would Witsel or this Koulibaly chap kick up a fuss to leave their decent clubs to join us with no Europe to offer? It's not all money it seems which is actually kind of nice.

Hopefully we've learned from this going forward.

yeah, but i like the ambition tbh. i said it at the time, some may say we were a bit ameteur in waiting until really late when we should have been going for backup options, but it's very likely imo that the people we did miss out on deadline day in particular weren't at the top of our list. We were a tad unfortunate it seems, all the selling clubs too the piss a bit by constantly changing the goalposts, but i do like the ambition. I really liked moshiri pointing out how they have not done so well since we missed out on them, a nice sly dig to their selling clubs, i'm a big fan of that.

we have to buy big in january because of the stones sale and how it ties with FFPP, but i'm pessimistic that it'll be another let down.

So now PL clubs have been given permission to sell sleeve advertising for additional commercial revenue, upwards of 10 mill. Apparently there are two PL club who cant due to there current sponsorship deals, you know its us really dont you.

surely moshiri will be working on getting us better sponsorship packages. If one of the two is us, he would move even quicker. We now have a good businessman at the head, we really need to improve most aspects of incoming finances.

Seems a clever strategy by the PL as we know from the Esks articles the head room for transfers wages comes from the ability to grow organic revenue this seems like a purposeful strategy from the PL to create more head room for clubs to comply with regulations.

You wonder where it will lead shorts sponsorship etc.

When you buy a player, you don't usually pay the whole amount up front, usually spread over two or three years, so bidding £60 million doesn't mean you have £60 million in the bank or facilities.

havent listened a second time...but I was sure the comment said we went to £50m which was the asking price and then Napoli wanted £60m. I thought that was the end of it and dont remember an offer of £60m being mentioned

to a lot of very ugly kits with badges all over the place and advert stoppages every 10 mins during matches ha. it's just another thing that will get the bigger clubs more income compared to the smaller ones to try and increase the gap.

I think its all relative mate, i know what your saying the big clubs will always find a way to pump artificial millions into their clubs - now that we are one of those relatively speaking getting the money into the squad seems like the issue with regulation.

I know what your saying traditionalists wont like it, but when you look at something like formula 1 where every sinew of available space is sponsored, well it doesn't really matter does it, in fact the Ferrari jackets etc look boss because of it. I fail to see the difference between this shirt sponsorship, advertising hoardings just evolution really.

Broadly i think the PL does a good job providing a competitive league, last year was brilliant and weekly any team can get a good result against anyone, i don't subscribe to the PL being the best league in the world but its the most exciting. I think it does a better job then most making things a level playing field.

That's hideous. Anyone looking at Belgian football can see the shorts festooned in commercial trash and it looks terrible.

There's no excuse for the PL to do this. They are sagging under the weight of tv revenue and it's just gluttony. Those kits should be unblemished in the PL.

This is why i believe it to be the best league in the world. The quality is dropping in recent years, yet the league itself is getting better. It's much more enjoyable to me than when we had the sky 4 constantly finishing top 4, with 3 of them always battling it out for the title. That's happening because of the growing revenue and that smaller clubs can splash more money and be more competitive.

So in that regard i am grateful. I am a traditionalist though, in everyday life really. Shirts look better with the odd sponsorhsip and badge tbh, just don't want them looking like that clown in the kop with all his hat badges, down the line.

Disagree mate, for potentially a few million, NEA how the shorts look. I think its less about swelling the coffers and more the strategy of getting the money on the pitch via the regulations around wages.

The only thing that worries me about the PL mate, is there has to be a tipping point when it comes to finance, ther eis only so much revenue that can be made by its commercial partners, its getting to a microcosim now in term sof ways to make money. TV deals wont always be bumper and there will be ceiling eventually in terms of how much the PL can make, when that comes any club that has over extended themselves will see there growth fall and sharply. Whether that will be a tailing of or bang financially is abyone guess. Skys subscription figures are already down.

The new advertising opportunities will just further widen the gap between the relatively rich and the relatively poor. It will add to the financial inequality within the premier League.
