Let me give you an example of what I mean
This is an example of someone who makes money out of our fanbase, and spends time after time after time criticising a portion of it. It's like 'unless we all vote or think one way, you aren't a proper fan'.
It's not on at all. People are allowed opinions.
Desperately tries to think of a Lennon pun.Everybody's talking bout Lookman, Coleman, Koeman, this man and that man,
All we are saying, is give Mosh a chance.
It's not about buying one player though, the increased sponsorship allows for more wages through rules and regulations a la. John Stones.£15mil all in? Would buy 1 player...
Of course they are. No doubt about it. My opinion is he wasn't given a chance by some and were almost digging him out from day one.
Also, if we didn't spend any money this window and/or things like last night didn't happen, do you honestly think, come Feb 1st none of the naysayers would take a little shot?
I'm sure I've been vaulted on things I've said about being patient with him.
Even when the debt was paid off (saving us huge figures in interest alone) people couldn't wait to dig him out. 17 years of Kenwright means we deserve a bit of good news.
I get what your saying but it HAD to be a 'fair deal' to comply with the rules surrounding it. Any more and we'd have been risking sanctions or whatever. I do think some are possibly overplaying the significance of it somewhat, but we will see.Yeah i know...
BUT, its a FAIR DEAL imo...
£15mil a season for the shirt sponsorship and training ground name + more
Its not what i was first thinking which was a genius way to circumvent the rules.
Usmanov hasnt dropped a heap of cash our way, hes paid a fair price for sponsorship etc and an easy deal via his partner.
You know, its not WOW....
First of all, on Martinez, my POV on him came from his record as a PL manager in the first place, there was clear and tangible evidence that he was a clear fraud, not capable of managing a premier league club. It was a case of being patient and holding our own until he proved us right. So if we bought £30m worth of players and sold Barkley to fund it (just as an example), you don't think the 'naysayers' would be correct in raising concerns?
It doesn't have to be a love-in Ian, and I'm a bit confused as to why you can't understand this having been anti-El Fraudo from the moment he was mentioned (as was I)

With the Barkley sale or any potential sale to fund transfers, should that happen then stating nothing has changed would be fair, because that's how it used to be. Now the obvious response to the is the selling of Stones, but Moshiri went public on why that had to be done to trigger the summers spending, he also went public talking about huge offers made for players in deals we didn't quite close. Now that give us a choice, is he a bare faced liar? (From his interview on national radio) or does he deserve the benefit of the doubt?
Without him,
This is 10 months in. Sure, it's not a City/Chelsea/PSG style takeover, but so far I'd say it's better than a Sunderland/Blackburn/Villa/QPR/ type takeover.
- Would Martinez still be here?
- Would Koeman be here?
- Would Goodison look the way it does today?
- Would Walsh be here?
- Would the clear and almost undeniable progress towards a new stadium have happened?
- Would deals like last night have happened?
There seems to be a plan, with clear signs of change.
So you agree then we went from talk of net £100m spending sprees to breaking even, so the cynicism can therefore be justified to an extent?
We're only going on track records here (like Martinez) who also promised the world in words (Champions League etc) .
So it's fair as you rightly agree for people to criticise to this point, but if things change they can change their minds; but their original scepticism has some merit to it?
Can't be one way for Martinez and one way for Moshiri.
There is a difference for that opening paragraph, Martinez mentioned CL, I never heard Moshiri say £100m net spend. Sure it was reported, but a lot of crap is reported. So you agree then we went from talk of net £100m spending sprees to breaking even, so the cynicism can therefore be justified to an extent?

I think anyone coming in should be given a period of grace, so people should have opinion - however it should be tempered to give people a chance.
Martinez, did i want him no i didn't, he was given a chance blew it out the water with his first season and then failed - which stood well with my initial opinion he wants good for our club.
There is too much, X is going to fail (the moment they are through the door), or X is going to be amazing. too many people get hung up on that without giving people the benefit of the doubt they do or don't with others.
Why was that?
I love you. XBecause I, like you, like everyone else, am a massive hypocrite and it was probably funny at the time?
