The progress barometer I'm using at the moment is that since Moshri's arrival there has been no rumblings of players wanting to move to bigger clubs, its as if they know that something big could be round the corner. it is a rather simple unscientific way of thinking though.
Keep hearing that mate don't we? Where's the proof in actions though?

Bought a few decent players, I think it is a genuine push for a ground at the docks, got a decent manager at the helm, first time in decades
we have a backer with money.

I understand the pessimism, but I'm glad we are not just throwing money round like confetti like city RS etc. I think this set up will get it right.

A new ground and a top class team are not going to appear over night, this summer will be the indicator but it will get there, in my opinion.

As I said mate, I'm very exited to have Moshiri and think he will be amazing for us off field.

£10m pay-off Martinez...

£6m per-year to Koeman, plus comp to S'ton

Progression on the stadium front. Maybe not as far on as some would suggest but definitely getting closer...

Naming rights to FF, improving commercial performance

New shirt deal staring next season

Actively looking to improve commercial and corporate performance

Improving FF and Goodison revamp

Backing the manager with cash this window - already £30mil spent on two players. Hopefully there will be more activity by the end of the window...

That's just off the top of my head.

that's all spot on BT but what @kithnou is getting at is that a lot of words have been said, we've gone for so and so, there's loads of money to spend, we can compete with anyone, working on the stadium and so on and so on but at the end of the day we haven't actually bought anyone who we wouldn't have been able to attract anyway. It's not being pessimistic, it's just very easy to get carried away with words because a lot of it is just words at the moment. We are still shy of 2/3 players imo this window.

I've been starved of success as an Evertonian so another few years more won't mean anything to me, but it's actions as a fan base we need to see, not just soundbites and promises that's can't be met or kept.

exciting times hopefully in the coming months

In fairness, this window there has been very little of that -as in 'we're going for such and such' in the media at least.

Whispers of VVD, Mertens etc, but nothing more than that.

Confident we'll get another in but only if the deal is right.

totally agree mate that we haven't been going for unrealistic targets but I guess that's part of the point as in, we can't attract the top targets like we were hopeful of. That's what @kithnou was getting at, in order to compete with the top teams we need a higher standard of player but seem no nearer to attracting such players.

I don't think it's been a great window if we only get one more in, short up top, short of quality on the wing, short in central defence imo but hey ho, if we don't being anyone else in then so be it.

Well I think they do know it mate, but look at the squad...

We have to move players out before bringing anymore in really.

We can get better options for example, in defence, come the summer. We're very eager on Keane and he wants to join us, but Burnley won't allow the move to happen now. That's fair enough. In the summer they'll sell. So for the sake of four months I reckon Jags as back-up for the others works, if (as long as we can do this) we then get the targets in come the summer.

We aren't short of quality on the wings now because we play a different system. We could do with another player who can operate from wide, or centrally in the role Kev has recently been playing or even as another striking option. Lookman has replaced Deulofeu already. I think this is the type of player we're aiming to do business for in these last few days mate.

Agree mate but that's all off field. I'm talking about how are we going to compete for titles?

It won't happen overnight...

Small steps.

The aim this season was top seven. We're still very much on course for that.

We're in a position where we can't yet get the best of the best - especially half-way through the season - but the business we have done has been good.

I hate the term but we're really a team in 'transition'. Now, with the latest signings and player starting to show their quality we're speeding up that process. It's disappointing we're out of the cups, but such is life...
