Yeah, it does to me too. Others however seem to say it wont happen and imply only spending more will get us where we want.

I'm realistic: me we have assets in blue jerseys we have to shift out and that will be the war-chest plus a few more million. Hopefully it also means getting Baines, Jagielka and Williams down the road earlier than the last 12 months of their contracts to make room for better and younger players.

We dont have a benefactor here at Everton. That much is clear form the last two seasons. It is not a City or Chelsea situation. We spent what we generated in once in a generation player trading and a hike in tv revenue. The first part of that is gone. Over. The sooner the likes of @MoutsGoat and @Foot Long Hot Dog understand that the better for them.

Erm Dave ive said countless times that we need a club reset. The Board has had a rejig, we have Marcel the God in, now we need to ship out around 25 of the first team squad

There will be vastly more Outs than Ins this summer, our first team squad numbers around 40 players.

Im willing to bet anything that we spend vastly more than we sell tho, as we have in every transfer window since Moshiri rocked up.

4th highest net spend in the whole of Europe in the last 2 transfer windows, but Dave, 78 from Preston thinks The Mosh hasnt given us a penny.

My vote goes to that being the very next thread starting on a Burnley forum.

Assuming they have one that is. If not, they will certainly have a chuckle at the whippet racing later tonight.

You're having a laugh. It is clearly a conservative approach he's preparing us for.

Preparing us? lol

You sound like one of those noddy conspiracy theorists who see hidden meaning in anything and everything, and use confirmation bias to ‘back up’ their noddiness :)

I accept your apology.

Thanks to @kev for retrieving that Brands quote you and your claims have been rocked back on their heels.

"He didn't say anything about squad pruning, you liar"...but now you read and understand that he's complaining about the 38 man squad and indicating less is more.

"He didn't say we were reviewing spending, liar"...and then you read he's going to be doing EXACTLY that.

What I take from what he said is that we will have a smaller first team squad, I think he means that we have players in the squad who don't really fulfil a specific function other than they are there. There is a bit of an ad hoc approach to things. I believe we will reduce the first team squad and all those in it will have a role to play and a chance to play. That doesn't mean we will not spend money but it does mean that the money we do spend will be expected to produce results. We have squandered money over the last couple of windows, I don't want that to happen again. We need to establish a style of play that gets us results, entertains and suits those players we want to keep and then forensically go after those players that will improve what we have. Everton appear to be taking steps to put the house in order, we really don't know if this will work but we do know that if we had done nothing we would have continued down the road to nowhere.

Not sure how we can critique mosh to much.

Binned off Martinez fairly quickly
Appointed Steve Walsh and Koeman who at the time seemed like good bets.
No need to change after last season as it was an acceptable season results wise.
Sanctioned the spending to try and push on in the league.
Absolute disaster ensures bins off Koeman fairly quickly.
Gives Unsworth a chance to prove his worth that fails miserably.
Appoints BFS to steady the ship right move at the time.
Sods off BFS after season is finished.
Guessing some internal review was done on the disaster of the season. Board room rejig, appoints new DOF, bins off earlstone, woods, Walsh and BFS.

All whilst building a new stadium and improving the commercial side of Everton bloke has done pretty much word for word a similar path I would of taken. Yes he deserves some stick for the mess the Walsh and Koeman created but the fat wasters should mostly be the blame there.

Less excuses for me now but it’s his train track now and let’s see how it goes

BTW, I'm instructed by Damon to send you this and await your reply:

You underestimate the army of fellow travellers I have on here. Either they or I will find that quote.

'fellow travellers'...wow DAve, I've not heard that phrase since the heyday of Communist involvement in the UK political world.Does that give us a hint as to your own particular political leanings? It would explain quite a lot.......
