He's been speaking in Holland about that and it was widely circulated earlier in the week. That will be backed up by others who post here who will have linked it. I've been searching and cant find the exact source but he said it. I'd be grateful to others if they unearthed that quote.

Look Dave, have a pop at Moshiri, make stuff up if you must, but dont start on Marcel, just dont.

Last warning.

If it was widely circulated it’d be easy to find...

You’re attempting to create another false narrative from mis quotes (as earlier) and now this.

Half way down where they quote his interview with the Dutch press.

Financials to May 2018 will reveal a very healthy profit but negative cash flow . The first reflects largely the Lukaku sale and the latter the extent of reinvestment (into a mish- mash of a squad unfortunately).
The increase in net debt presages a parsimonious spend this summer, imo.

the squad seriously needs pruning..... added bonus it will generate funds for transfer. Absolutely the right way forward

Brands' words so far have all been about pruning the squad

ALL the quotes I've seen from Brands so far seem (to me) to be genuinely positive. I think the quote below was what @davek was refering to.
Only Dave could read that as "I am going to prune the squad"

“The squad still counts 38 men, although 14 players have already been leased. As Director of Football I have to break that ad hoc policy. I have explained to the big boss (Moshiri) how I am used to working. I like to get involved everywhere. From scouting to youth training to what the kits look like.”

“I was raised with the idea: the larger amounts are, the more responsibility that entails. Then you can only make fewer mistakes.”

My take on the ‘different model’ comment is that we’ve appointed Brands as a genuine DOF, that will see him build a back room from youth set up to first team that will remain largely unchanged if we change the manager. The traditional model in this country sees the manager come in with his entire back room team and there’s huge upheaval if you decide to part company with them. I can see us moving to the more continental method of a ‘first team coach’ more than a traditional manager who controls everything on the footballing side.

I'll be interested to see if the "different model" isn't also related to finances and player development

Exactly this. If you were to compare it to our traditional sytem, It's like Marcel Brands is our manager and whoever we appoint as 'manager' will, in effect, be no more than his assistant.

The Yank "General Manager" model; in recent years, the GMs run the teams and if the manager doesn't know how to implement the system, they get the boot. Yes, that could be it entirely; only a few coaches/managers in American sports rise above the power of the GM.

Now that the dust has settled.

What I enjoyed most this week was not necessarily the changes but the motivation behind them. Last year was a complete shambles as we all know and to see action as a result of that was a joy to behold. Allardyce wasn't good enough so gone, just like that. Walsh ultimately at fault for the transfer failings, gone just like that, even better as he barely got a mention which does indicate the board blamed him.

Giving the ceo to someone 'Everton' puts us in good stead if she steps up and performs. Giving the Russian control of the money, moshiri man no less means that we shouldn't see stupid money being thrown about on dross Now, it will all be accounted for.

Brands being the icing on the cake for me because having an experienced man in charge and someone who specialises in bringing youth through is where I have said many times we need to be focusing. The links to riaola won't sit right with some but potentially the quality of the players brought in could drastically improve as a result.

Just Silva to go now, not my first choice but he is the first choice of moshiri so again a good sign that the decision to bring him in wasn't a reaction one like it seemed back in October but a genuine desire to have him as manager.

My optimism right now has come back, so thank you moshiri, over you you marcel and marco.

i think it's all a chess board to Moshiri (although I've said my piece elsewhere); the addition of Brands is moving the queen into position, but Allardyce was never more than a pawn.
