I'm still reading this crazy statement here: "Half a billion quid in the last four seasons cant be described as buying the title". Never mind comparing that with what the other financial elite clubs do...they ALL cant win it every season can they?

Let me ask you this: if Liverpool spend £300M 0r £350M in the last 4 seasons do they win the title this year (if thats what they do)?

Since Moshiri came Everton, Everton’s net spend is £160m compared to Liverpool’s net spend of £134m (all figures from Transfermarkt). You can argue about the quality of Moshiri’s investment but you can’t deny the fact that he put up the cash.

And us, I know Liverpool started off with a better team, so the two situations are not entirely comparable. And Liverpool still spend more on wages despite the major increase in wages since Moshiri arrived.

Stop being a child... Why wouldn't they spend 300m?!..should the owners just have pocketed the Suarez and coutinho money?... That's football today, that's the money all the top clubs have...thats where the markets at... Of course if they don't spend 300-350m they don't win the league, that's not my point... But they are a big club, but have spent less money better than United, Arsenal and Chelsea have, and that's why they're the ones beating City now.....
spending money doesn't guarantee anything, we gave koeman money and he wasted it...

For me Liverpool have only signed 2 players that were outside our current finances, and that's Van djik and Allison, every other player Klopp has signed has been well inside our budget... Salah, firmino, Mane, Robertson, Keita, Milner were all very good deals..
I suggest you go and look at that table that @MarcelsGoat provided and familiarise yourself with it.

Budget, probably. But not all of them.

Wages. Probably not.

CL. Deffo not.

Milner and Robertson aside. (Could have sworn it is Robinson anyrate)

5 years.webp

It's nothing to do with that statistical anomoly of Everton's over the last few seasons, it's about whether Liverpool are in that bracket of hefty spending clubs that can fairly be accused of buying success. They quite obviously are.

It's about what you spend on players. That's the gross figures + wages. Liverpool will be top 3/4 over the last 5 years.

Absolute tosh I'm having to read here off Evertonians who are trying to make a case for Liverpool winning a title on the basis of prudent purchases and a Corinthian spirit.

Laughable.

They are a huge global corporation, and the only thing we should be acknowledging here is that even being financially doped up to the eyeballs for years it;s taken them 29 years to put a title winning charge together.

It's being strongly implied.

Well its a nonsense. Like City and United may well have paid a few bob more for some players, but so what? City probably have a current injury list costing £200m. United, until Jose was punted, had probably £300m worth of badly managed players.

IIRC, Liverpool have had pretty much zero injuries, and a decent manager in his 3rd year.

Well let's have a look...

Arsenal... Showed how poor they were again yesterday, no defence, and no real quality in midfield....

Man Utd.... Still the poorest United squad in my lifetime, the new manager has a lot of work to do there...

Chelsea... Not once been in the title race again this season.... Will likely lose Hazard in the summer... Thought we matched them at Stamford bridge this season..

Spurs... Have had a great 3 years, but can they keep Pochettino, Kane & eriksen in the summer?...

Not saying we can get Top 4 next season, but I think we a few good additions in the summer (striker, right winger, right full back, and Gomez) we should be able to atleast challenge them... While other teams are rebuilding there always a chance of sneeking in there, Moyes showed its not impossible

I was thinking of the Brighton's Wolves Palace etc..

I'm over all impressed with Morshiri thus far, however, building a team to even challenge will take sustained investment over several windows. So a few Digne Richarlson and Mina signings...

Leicester are the only team that could be given credit for winning the PL without financial doping.

I expect we'll see a lot of Liverpool's friends in the media trying to sell any title win coming their way as a victory of David and Golaith proportions. They'll be talking Liverpool up as the saviours of the game "from the oil clubs", when they are the very embodiment of the curse of the modern game.

Financial, yep. Y'know.

And of course, if they win it, on the pitch, they will deserve it. Off the pitch, well, most on here know whats under several carpets.

Interesting use of word about Leicester’s title winning season ;)
