FFP is a UEFA rule, STCC is a Premier League rule.

Lets wait and see before we claim City can breach rules without punishment.

I know what you mean, it's possible that clubs could be subject to further or alternative punishments in the future. There is talk of City being banned from the Champions League, for example.

But at present, the only punishment that has actually been dished out is that of being deprived prize money from European football competitions, and the Premier League haven't dished out any punishments at all.

As deterrents go, I don't think it is that much of a deterrent to any club that had the means and ability to do what City have done. I also don't think that a club like say, Crystal Palace, should be cacking themselves about FFP anytime soon. The threat of being deprived prize money from a competition you are never likely to play in isn't that great.

What’s his vision for this club?

What are these plans, as BS Bill put it, ‘beyond the wildest dreams of any Evertonian’?

We continue to sell our most valuable assets, we are only aiming to build the 8th largest club stadium in the country and we continue to be unsuccessful on the pitch.

It’s more like a nightmare.

Bank holiday Monday and you’ve spent it losing your head because some blag Arab has been linked with taking over Newcastle.

Hahahaha you big dope.

City also had to name a restricted squad for the CL and were given a transfer cap.

Yes Palace dont have to worry about FFP, but if they spent money, LOTS of money, theres a chance they MIGHT get Europe, then they would be screwed, see Malaga for an example.

But Palace do have to worry about STCC, an often overlooked rule I feel.

If I had the choice between being punished for breach of FFP, or just being crap for evermore, I know which option that I would choose.

The punishments are not enough to negate the progress that is seen through financial doping imo.

We know PSG Barca etc have been punished by Eufa over FFP.

But has any club been punished over STTC in the Prem ?

Just on the FFP issue, my understanding is that City have only ever been penalised by UEFA, and that the Premier League have done absolutely nothing when it comes to FFP in the Premier League?

City's 50 million pound 'fine' actually came in the form of withholding prize money, which I presume is prize money from UEFA run competitions, and was met with a shrug of the shoulders from Manchester City.

I'm not sure UEFA or the Premier League would do anything at all if a club was to dismiss FFP restrictions and they ended up finishing 5th or whatever, and if a club has access to that amount of money then it will be met with the same shrug of the shoulders that they get from Manchester City.

FFP can't be completely dismissed, but it's not the massive restriction some people make it out to be, which some clubs hide behind as an excuse for failing to invest.

The issue here is, that the current process has only started. City have massively reduced spending too, expect that to continue.

The idea that teams will be able to openly flout the rules without consequence going forward is fanciful in my view.

Without consequence, no. But the consequences would have to become far greater than what they are for it to become the deterrent that it's claimed to be, imo. Say City are banned from Europe for a year, the level of progress that they have achieved makes it a price worth paying, and they continue to spend aplenty.

The Football League do dish out quite harsh punishments for breach of FFP, like 10 points point deductions etc. The Premier League would have to start doing stuff like this for the punishments to become a real deterrent. Wolves still completely disregarded the football league's rules on FFP, and only avoided sanction due to their promotion to the PL.

I get the impression that the PL are quite relaxed about FFP type rules because they are happy to see the Premier League brand go from strength to strength.

Not to my knowledge. I don't know the ins and outs of STCC rules, but like I say above. I think the Premier League are quite relaxed about it as long as the Premier league brand continues to strengthen.

I think missing out on Europe would be a far bigger deterrent than you think mate. Lots of prize money but also very important to commercial revenue.

As for the PL, I think we are on a journey here. It's very much at the start, but expect pressure to start being applied, from all manner of clubs for serious punishments for rule breaking.

Many teams (including sides like Liverpool) are losing their heads over Manchester City 10 years after they started spending and effectively moved themselves from 10th to 3rd. Imagine if a side went from say bottom6 to top 4 now. The level of anger it would cause etc,

I don't think we will see another situation play out like how Chelsea/City did. I think you will see teams potentially doing what ourselves and Wolves have tried, which is spending decent amounts of money in a targeted way, which is still a problem too.

So really speaking theres not a lot to put off clubs spending money in the Prem but would have to think twice before doing it when qualified for Europe.

Newcastle are now a more attractive proposition than us. Another club we’re now behind in the pecking order.

Moshiri should’ve sold up as soon as he heard that they wanted to buy into a Premier League club.

If it is true that Qatar want a Premier League club, he should be banging on their door now.
If it is now reduced to this, there is no point. I dont think it is.

It is not happen again like City or Chelsea but they will still get there over time. Look what the money has enabled City to do off the pitch as well by extending the stadium, building their brand overseas and their academy

Some people cant see the woods from the trees.

We once were a top 6 club more often than not under Moyes - Man City took us out of it.

Newcastle likely to soon become another Man City - eventually they'll take us out of top 7.

What is our aim in a league where our highest realistic finish is 8th and gets you nowhere not even Europa?

Believe me fans will get bored over the years- Man City started the decline of English football and Newcastle may be the club to finish it. Fans will eventually get bored of the oil monied clubs dominating every year with the old monied clubs like Utd and Kopites still able to sign £60 millon players on 250k a week contracts whilst the rest of us fight for 40 points and the odd cup semi final.
Man City started the decline of English football

Man City have done English football a massive favour by keeping the scum in their place
