That is not really true. Yes we have made mistakes in personnel but without learning from that we would have continued making them until the funds were withdrawn and we ended up like Blackburn under Venky's or Sunderland or Newcastle, Villa etc.

He managed to stop the freefall and put in place something which is probably the most significant in our history bar from the club's formation. BMD is going to keep us at the forefront of English football for the next 60 years, without that our steady decline would have continued until we were as relevant as Preston NE. You don't have to like him to show some respect for not just settling for a cow shed somewhere out by the motorway but giving something which will live on far after he has shuffled off.
Let's not put too much emphasis on th stadium (if passed). It will be a huge boost, but in and of itself no new stadium can catapult a club up the league.

I hope that you are correct Dave.
It would mean that Everton has returned to the top table table of English football.
Not necessarily. If he loads a load of debt onto the club but finds a buyer willing to take the risk once a stadium is built we could be exactly where we are right now. In fact, the need to pay for the stadium might see us way off the pace as transfer war chests are depleted.

Actually, the stadium is the centre piece of the plan to improve.
It will completely change our standing and attractiveness to the media.
With a world class manager and stadium we will be a really attractive package to media and prospective playing staff.

So are mine. But we are miles off. Everytime we thonk we're getting somewhere along comes a fixture like the last one to put is back in the box we actually belong in. The standard of players here after the spending thats took place is nothing short of appalling.
Is 5 points off 4th with 2 games in hand and an FA Cup QF to come miles off?

Seems like its a decent place to be in to me.

That's the theory. I haven't noticed Spurs having a massive boost yet.

IF you can find somebody willing to buy a club with debts of 400m, plus somebody willing to then invest another 700m into a new stadium, then good luck to you Dave, you will have earned your commission.

There are people / organisations out there with that type of cash.
