Both of those comparisons are teams that were promoted from the Championship in the last 5 years. Of course they have been finishing at the bottom of the table.

Everton should not be anywhere near 16th you melt.

Why shouldn't we? Because we won trophies 35 years ago?

You are where you deserve to be ultimately and our squad is crap minus a handful of good but nothing special players.

What's Brighton's budget compared to ours? What's their wage bill, how much have they spent on their squad? 16th won't be far off where they should be. Even so 16th was a real anomaly in terms of their performances, football and XG, they just didn't have a goalscorer/were unfortunate. Problem with Everton is bad football as well.

A spell in The Championship (preceded by several relegation battles) has humbled Villa. They seem to be on the right track at last.

You are in the table where you deserve to be mate.

We've been poor this season and had a lot of injuries to key players and thats it - there is no conspiracee.

The last 5 years under Moshiri we've finished 7th, 8th, 8th, 12th & 10th so this season clearly stands out as being an exception rather than the rule.

Its when we are finishing 14th/15th/16th/17th for a run of seasons where you need to start asking serious questions as that is a pattern of trouble forming not a one off poor season.

I still ultimately think we'll finish 11th-12th this season when the next manager comes in which wouldn't be a disaster based on the 1st half of the season.

Nope it is because the last time we finished 17th was 18 years ago.

That is how rare it is for us and why we should never be anywhere near 16th regardless of excuses.

And the following season to that we finished 4th!

Sometimes you have a good season other times you dont it really is that simple mate.

Lets see where we are come the end of game 38...

Nope that is not accurate either. It would only be accurate if there were a few 16ths, 17ths etc which there isn't. The next lowest was 12th and the majority of finishes are top 10.

Not nit picking mate, it is just not accurate to say sometimes you have a good seasons and sometimes you don't to justify how crap we have been this season. It has been very rare for us to do this crap.

But yeah lets hope we have a good run in and climb the table quickly and then 16th will be a distant memory. ;)

you've more or less blamed Benitez there - theres hope for you yet, it seems.

As I said mate - Rome isn't burning down if the season finished tomorrow the history books show we will have finished in the bottom 6 once under Moshiri's 6 years as owner.

Totally different to the likes of Wigan, Sunderland etc who were consistently finishing bottom 6 season after season just waiting to fall down the sinkhole.

If we finish 16th this season then again next season thats when we should worry but I honestly can't see that happening.

We've had horrendous injuries this season and ultimately the previous manager underperformed. Get the new fella in, Cahill as sporting director and hopefully we have a few quid in the summer to strengthen the side.

COYB!

But the season isn't finishing tomorrow
If the season started on Game 5 we'd be rock bottom
Form needs upping rapidly

You’re just ignoring 7 years of increasing buffoonery from this Persian bean counter.
