Finally, the days of the non-existent board and non-existent board meetings, and of receiving instructions from a ‘friend of the club’ are now at an end. The combination of new investment alongside the media uplift couldn’t have been timed better.

Another possible tantalising glimpse of the future was to be found in the directors box on Saturday. As Kenwright and Moshiri took their seats, a few rows behind the main attraction, Lord Owen was in attendance.

Lord Owen is an associate of both Farhad Moshiri and Alisher Usmanov, having been the Chairman of Middlesex Holdings, a London based investment company, from 1995 to 2006.

Interestingly Lord Owen resigned from three companies on 21st December 2015, as a director of Europe Steel plc, a trading company of Ural Steel, a subsidiary of Metalloinvest, owned by Alisher Usmanov, and as a consultant to both Epion Holdings Limited and USM Holdings Limited. Both registered in the BVI and both also owned by Alisher Usmanov.
Interesting times indeed. This why I am not too fussed over things like these anymore...

-who do we draw in the cup?
-is Martinez the man?
-Goodison or new stadium?

etc etc

I just have that positive feeling that things will just work out. If not this season or next, then very soon :)

No idea what any of this means but I just had a bit of a sex wee

I think the reason lord Owen resigned for a few companies is due to old age, he must be about 80.
77 so certainly not in the first blush of youth.

Was apparently chancellor of Liverpool University for 13 years so may just have wanted to revisit the area with his business friend. But someone of that sort of background rarely wants an entirely quiet retirement...

Lord Owen has had business dealings with Moshiri since 1995 when the company that Owen was then Chairman of, Middlesex Holdings, helped a company called OEMK (whose MD was Moshiri) with global sales of Aluminium.

As @Moomin stated, Owen is in late 70's and has never expressed any direct interest in football. His resignation of directorships in December cannot be related to Moshiri's deal with Everton as that was nowhere near certain at the time.

Whilst it's interesting he was there, it's no more significant than one old friend supporting another in my opinion.
