It's not about demanding promises, it's about projecting a vision. I'm disappointed that he took no time to properly tackle the main areas he hopes to influence for the better. Comments about 'being part of the Everton family' make me nervous. I dont want that. It's cheap talk and it's easy to say and it plays on the sentiment that Kenwright has always played on. I'd like a vision of the future.

I'm sure he could easily outline one, but what if he can't deliver it? I find it comforting that he hasn't come out yet with this vision of utopia. It seems as though he's reviewing everything from the inside and then will start to make his influence felt.

...what sort of demand is that? If Martinez ends our club's long years in the trophyless wilderness he'll be given a two year extension on his contract, and no one will be arsed about PL placing.

How on earth this demotion of cup winning has taken hold amongst some is pretty bizarre.

No Everton manager has won a sausage for 21 ywars. They haven't been good enough. If one does it this year they are a history making manager, not some flunky who has to get a result or two in the league to please the ego's of people who think that the sooper dooper Barclay's Premier League is the cats pyjamas.

No one wants a cup more than me, but there has to be progress in the league alongside that to warrant a manager being at one of the biggest clubs in the most demand/richest league in the world. We are seeing Champions league winning managers at Newcastle now for example, for me I think If Moshiri has any business acumen and ambition beyond avoiding relegation and winning the odd cup every decade or so he needs to cut Martinez loose.

If West Ham win it this year for example they'll have had a successful campaign in both the league and cup, why can't we?

...that's fair enough. I just started out by saying that he has a big summer to make his vision known and let us see exactly how much he's willing to pump into this club. That's true.

Yes, they will have.

But the jewel in that season's crown would be the cup win...as it would for any club starved of silverware.

The boost a cup win could give is also important to factor in too.

Make no mistake IF we were able to win two more games in that competition it'd be the biggest moment in the club's history since 1995. That cant be allowed to be doubted just because someone has a cob on with the manager. It's just friggin daft talk to see the cup this season as a near irrelevant detour away from the league. Anyone who thinks that way need to give their heads a squeeze.

I agree mate but he can't keep his job solely on the hope of winning a cup. I know you think he's a good manager and fair play I won't have a pop at you having that opinion it's your right but surely if he stays next season and finishes bottom half again you could understand him getting the boot?

It's sad because we've been divided as a fan base for so long with Kenwright and his gang but under Moshiri we've had a unite of the fan base, if we are to ever get this shiny new 55k+ stadium I just can't see how we could fill that with the current league form and surely that is something the new owner will be looking at/judging this if not next season?

My opinion is I think change in the summer is needed and a relative big name (a hiddink/mancini/etc) coming in would get the whole fan base together and hopeful of pushing on, I think we are past that point with margined, even winning the cup all that good will shall be gone if we are sat in 14th next season.

lol Yes, because having a problem with two consecutive seasons of massive underachievement in the league (76 games) should all be ignored due to good performance in a cup (6 games).

No one is lessening the fact that winning the cup would be a huge moment. But it doesn't absolve the manager of the very many legitimate grievances that a now huge section of the fanbase has.

It might sound harsh and impatient, but what in the way of anything tangible has come out of this new configuration of share ownership so far? Nothing as far as I can see.

Cheaper season tickets
Commitment to increased transfer and wage budgets in the summer
Go-ahead of FF partial redevelopement
New board member
Removal of Earl
Proper evaluation of stadium options commenced.

Pretty good start in 1 month in my book

Even the article in the echo about Everton not being able to match lukakus ambition is worrying me a little, surely with a new owner we would have renewed ambition? Renewed optimism? But no nothing has changed with regard to the ambition of the club

Because of an article in the Red Echo?

New ambition doesn't put us in the Champions League next season

I think it's more a case of he has stated he wants to play Champions League football next season, something we can't give him = we can't match his ambition.
