He is someone whose wealth seems to be based around getting into the Russian thing just as the Soviet Union collapsed (which was not a good time for open and honest business practices carried out by saints), and staying on the good side of those who won power then and have kept it since.

Is this his own money, or does he have his own "investors" in the background?

I am sure he is very good at what he does; all I would point out is that he seems to be associated with Usmanov an awful lot. If its his money he is putting in then good luck to him, but there really should be questions (not least over what kind of a deal it is to sell 15% of Arsenal for 49% of us) asked this "investment", especially as there doesn't appear to be (if it is just him) that much money behind him.

By that you mean 11th and on it's way to 11th again when he took over in basically March. If he had taken over a year earlier then with that team we might have done something. They were all eyeing moves by the end of that season and they stayed on but we knew we'd have to replace by the end of the following season. Where we did actually improve and could have kicked on from there by adding a few extras to the team.

Spent the money (took the risk), got the stadium and eventually sold for a pittance to the 'right' profile buyer.

We'll never know the ins and outs of his time at the club but he gave it a go and were no worse off for it now.
