Its an incredible game, you arent wrong its amazing skillful. Im very involved in the GAA. Great story.

I have one right back at you. I lived in the States for a bit and i played for one of the GAA clubs over there. After training we used to head to the same bar in the neighborhood, i got friendly with one the girls who used to work their and asked her out. We headed out for dinner and went for a walk along the river just shooting the breeze, deciding to finish the night in the neighborhood bar with a couple of scoops.

About a drink and half in, one of the locals our own age and his mates start pestering the girl on her night of and being real Leary with me, as he got drunker he took exception with an Irish fella "coming over here" "dating their bartender" - long story short we ended up outside 5:1 and im the 1. For the next couple of minutes, i got a couple of haymakers in, but was roundly battered by 5. So im lying on the ground thinking im goosed here. When all i hear is crack and a body hitting the floor, another crack the same thing. I look up and see the lads from the hurling team, they had just finished training and heading for drink when they saw waht was going on and started taking out the American lads with their hurls.

Anyway more join and big mele breaks out. Next thing we hear are sirens, some run, we stay were we are, so the cops line 15 of us up against the wall, hands to the wall some of us and some of them. We're thinking "oh sh..." - the cop asked "whats happened here" - and one of the American lads goes "I dont know man, we were just minding our own business when all of these, Irish guys turn up and start attacking us with their giant wooden spoons". lol

Hahaha we couldnt keep a straight face.

All ended well.

As an Oatlands ex this brought great pleasure.

Both great games as well mate, heartening that the hurling is getting as much bump as the football in Dublin these days, also good to see Eoghan head back to hurlers, even if I was curious to see how he’d get on with the footballers, I’ve seen him play football a good few times for WHCC and he’s an excelllent footballer, defo county standard, but his heart is drawn to the Ash.

Be interesting to see how Crokes get on in the rest of the Championship, Ballyhale be hard bet, but the footballers were a heart beat away from an All Ireland last year and Walsh is a serious addition, even if I’m not a fan of lads changing county for club.

It explains itself. It's kind of weird for someone who is renowned to be a big hater of Rangers, to be recommending Ibrox as a place to visit.
I don't hate anyone or anything, where have I said I hate Rangers?
I thought with you supporting them it would be nice for you to visit.
I have been to Ibrox many times including twice to watch Everton, as stadiums go it's not the worst.

When I lived in London for a while I was in a strong Millwall area so used to go along to the old Den - Cold Blow Lane - a few times. Primitive and bleak but I didn't fancy watching any of the other London teams and most of my neighbours were Millwall fans. Hoprrible ground but I've fond memories of it. Other place I used to go, with the same people, was Catford Dogs, which was great!

You could get a decent atmosphere when full. Think it housed around 78000 - 80000. Saw a few Collingwood v Essendon games there in the 80s when the bombers used to flog us all the time. If it wasn't full then yeah it lacked big time. It was just a big grey concrete bowl stadium with no character. Was also known as Arctic Park as it was always freezing cold there.

There was a famous Carlton and Collingwood game there in 1991. It was our first meeting with you lot after your premiership win. Carlton won it as well.

Mind you that was as good as it got for the Blues in 1991. We finished 11th on the ladder, the lowest ever league position in our history at that point.

As the song by Bachman Turner Overdrive goes, 1991 was very much a case of you ain't seen nothing yet for Carlton! There was a lot worse to come in about another 10 or so years!

Highbury was my favourite ,when I started going to away games in the mid 80's, apart from the two beautiful stands they'd built it was brilliant going to a ground where the away fans weren't caged in behind fences. Villa Park would be my favourite now. Saw Stuttgart v Borussia Dortmund a few years ago,a night game under the lights, what an arena that is,60000 there, incredible atmosphere! Schalke's stadium was very impressive too.

Went to an AFL game at the MCG when travelling around Aus a few years back, what an incredible arena! it was Melbourne Demons v North Melbourne Kangaroos. Fairly respectable attendance (think it was around 31000 ,though I don't think they were anywhere near the best supported teams in the competiton,at least back then),but in a stadium of that size,we were rattling around it a bit. I sat amongst the Demons fans, after a bright opening quarter, their team ended up taking a bit of a hiding, the moaning, booing and jeering from their supporters made me feel very much at home!

Probably two of the worst supported clubs in Melbourne. 31000 is on the very low end for a game at the MCG.

A couple of days before I got to Melbourne,I think it was Richmond v Carlton played each other in front of a crowd pushing on for 90000, that would have been something to go and experience. Still, I enjoyed the game I went to though, and it was great to visit the MCG.

I think British stadiums when they’re at their 100% best, are unrivalled.

But European atmosphere by large is just incredible.

I love a visit to the Mungersdorf in Köln, have tickets in the stadium in the main section and it’s brilliant.

San Siro is magical if you see past the relic status of the toilets.

Nou Camp wasn’t anything special, as it’s just a big, crumbling stadium without any features.

Valencia was special, if you have a fear of heights you avoid that upper tier, because it’s just insanely steep, and for no real reason?

I love the Olympiastadion and Allianz in Berlin/Munich. Olympiastadion is well worth a visit if you enjoy history as it’s got all the old Olympic stuff from Nazi era.

Allianz should be an eyesore, miles from the City, but it’s just a great ground on the eye.

Gründwalder, Olympicstadiob and Unterhaching’s Alpenbauer Sportpark also in Munich are all great stadiums to be honest.

I've visited a few grounds in Germany, as I mentioned above I was blown away by going to watch Stuttgart v Dortmund, but I've been to quite a few other matches too, always been a great experience to go and watch football there, including at some of the smaller grounds in the second tier. I'll have to try and get to a game at Grunwalder,I went to watch 1860 when they played at the Allianz, the gate was a decent size for a second tier game (around 25000)but large swathes of the stadium were cordoned off and talking to some of the locals, they hated watching them play there. I reckon it would be good to go and watch them play again at their spiritual home, they're now in the third tier, but they still have 15000 filling their ground every game.

Yeah, 15,000 is a sellout nowadays.

The Allianz more or less crippled 1860, and then they sold up on the cheap, when Bayern vultured in when most vulnerable.

In my two trips to Unterhaching (once in Bundlesliga, now in Regionalliga Bayern, and top!) they handed out free beer and bratwurst at half time.

Germans get football right.
