Yeah, 15,000 is a sellout nowadays.

The Allianz more or less crippled 1860, and then they sold up on the cheap, when Bayern vultured in when most vulnerable.

In my two trips to Unterhaching (once in Bundlesliga, now in Regionalliga Bayern, and top!) they handed out free beer and bratwurst at half time.

Germans get football right.
Saw 1860 play at the Olympiastadion about twenty years ago. Interesting group of fans they have

Had some good fun just rocking up to places on holiday, mostly in Italy. Ternana are a really interesting team, Crotone is the hottest I've ever been at a game of football. Loved my trip to Vallecano too.

Never did many aways in England but went to a load of crap football when I lived in Scotland. Greenock Morton was a laugh, as were Airdrie and Partick Thistle.

I think British stadiums when they’re at their 100% best, are unrivalled.

But European atmosphere by large is just incredible.

I love a visit to the Mungersdorf in Köln, have tickets in the stadium in the main section and it’s brilliant.

San Siro is magical if you see past the relic status of the toilets.

Nou Camp wasn’t anything special, as it’s just a big, crumbling stadium without any features.

Valencia was special, if you have a fear of heights you avoid that upper tier, because it’s just insanely steep, and for no real reason?

I love the Olympiastadion and Allianz in Berlin/Munich. Olympiastadion is well worth a visit if you enjoy history as it’s got all the old Olympic stuff from Nazi era.

Allianz should be an eyesore, miles from the City, but it’s just a great ground on the eye.

Gründwalder, Olympicstadiob and Unterhaching’s Alpenbauer Sportpark also in Munich are all great stadiums to be honest.
I like the Olympistadion too but saw a gig there rather than a game unfortunately.

Madrid is a good place to watch football. Watching a game at the Bernabeu was a great experience. Another time I was there managed 2 games in a row on a Saturday - First up was Atleti v Depor at their old stadium (I think it was 2010, Kun was playing for them), then onto a bus to Getafe for Getafe v Villarreal. It might have been Getafe first and then Atleti - can't really remember. Great day. Getafe's stadium was ridiculous, just looked like a local recreation ground.

Seen 2 games at the Maracana. Once in 2002 saw Romario score a hat trick for Fluminense IIRC. I think it was against Paranaense. The other was in 2005, Flamengo were playing in the state championship against some no mark and they lost. Fans started trying to storm the directors' box and we were just a few rows away from it all. A tad scary actually lol

Both games only attracted about 5000 fans into a stadium that held I think 90,000

Great day out there April 1984, may be wrong but I reckon there was at least twice as many Everton fans as Southampton fans!
I've heard that the Southampton fans, didn't take the defeat very well afterwards! Indeed that was a great day, it was at that exact moment that the whole thing took off really.

The Southampton manager Lawrie McMenemy, was of course a match day pundit for the BBC at the final against Watford. He seemed genuinely happy for both Howard and Everton on our success.

I thought it was very magnanimous and gracious behaviour on Lawries part, because inside i'm sure he was disappointed that his Southampton team weren't there.

Been lucky enough over the years to have done a right good few away European trips with Celtic , slightly over 50 at last count . Seen some toilets and seen some belters . Going to the Bernabau next week and as meaningless as the game now is …I can’t wait . It’s been on my list for years . Done Atleticos old ground and would love to do the Metrapolitano . Done both of Bayerns and both of Juves so that would complete a nice wee hat trick of old and new . Love Germany for football done Munich Stuttgart Dortmund Bremen Cologne Hamburg Gladbach and Leipzig and would love to do Berlin .. preferably Union . I think it’s somewhat cliche’d but the Germans do get it right imo

In Scottish terms I did like going to Ibrox until they cut our allocation from 7800 to 800. Now it’s [Poor language removed] ,Footballs about going with your mates , and they taken that away in the derby . . I remember going in the early / mid 80s when we got around 16000 for Ibrox and it was great . Tynecastle is a great stadium , really steep stands with a great atmosphere when it’s full , and Easter Road is another nice stadium , probably nicer looking than Tynecastle , but with not as good an atmosphere . Aberdeen when it was the old Beach end was s superb away day . Garbage now as the allocation has been cut to about 1600 from around 6000 in the 80/90s. Hampden is a toilet . Dreadful place to watch football . One lovely new stand and basically 3 banks of the old terracing with seats and a roof stuck on it . A lot of other nice smaller modern stadiums in scotland that are decent away days ( local pub dependant obviously ) if you’re a stadium hopper , it would be easy to do a good few on one day

They would especially considering the recent years form. Problem is that most Demons members spend their winters in the snow fields rather than at the footy.
I find it amazing that Carlton have never played Melbourne in a grand final. Both clubs have 19 premierships between them, and are the two oldest footy clubs in Melbourne.

We nearly had a Carlton and Melbourne grand final in 1987, but of course Jim Stynes ran across the mark and the rest is history. The AFL pumped a serious amount of cash into Melbourne to make them competitive, but they were happy to leave Fitzroy die.

I think Carlton actually bought some shares in North Melbourne back in the 90's. I think we still could have held ownership of those shares, when they beat us in that 1999 grand final!

This thread has branched out into GAA and AFl discussion as well.lol Here's another great GAA ground Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney County Kerry.

Cork have had plenty of bad days down there, but we've had some good ones as well. Cork fans love travelling down there in their droves. That is unique really, because Corks gaelic footballers get very poor crowds in general in comparison to the hurlers.

It's a nice ground, it's really beautiful on a hot summers day with that view of the mountains. Cork actually haven't won down there since 1995! There's been a few draws all right but no wins. My favourite game in Fitzgerald stadium was in 2004, when the hurlers knocked Tipperary out of the championship down there.
