I think prospective buyers will just be concerned we our a PL outfit - if the debt's right down I dont think they'd see 11th rather than 7th as a deal breaker. As for league place money: we'd have to slip 7 places to lose out on £5M!

Even with the increased prize money? Even so, if you reduce the quality of the squad then the responsibility of improving it so you can catch up (again) will be that of the new owner's, and he will be required to add further investment to his already massive outlay.

Unfortunately, I don't think there are a queue of people waiting to invest in Everton, and of those that are capable of matching the asking price I'm not entirely sure that 20million pound will be much of a dealbreaker either.

Time will tell, but I think investment in the playing squad is more likely than a decrease in debt through making premature repayments. There's no need to do it unless a buyer is on the scene, and the only people to benefit from it will be Kenwright and chums. I really wouldn't be surprised to see the debt increase further.

But what about the new TV Deal, isnt it worth 360m a Season?

See what the Arsenal fans are saying in 12 months time. He's far more creative, a better passer, good in the tackle, and far, far better at protecting his defence. The only thing Arteta doesn't have going for him is his age.

Arsenal robbed us with Arteta, mainly because we had the banks demanding the repayment of an overdraft, but also because he was getting on, and we knew that his value was going to decrease as he got older. We were saying he was worth 25m+ the Summer before we sold him, and all the Arsenal fans rate him as a very good player.

They weren't a good partnership at all.

I don't know why you are getting a hard-on over this? You think it will 'only' be 60million over three years, and that spending such a sum will make very little difference. I happen to think it will be more like 90million over 3 years (but have read respected calculations that put it closer to 120million over 3 seasons), and that it has the the potential to make a massive difference.

Either way, it's a massive increase in revenue that stops us making losses and then leaves a fair whack left over even with your prediction of 'just' an extra 20million per season, which is widely reported as being the sum which is going to be given to the team finishing in 20th place.

That could equally be played as a positive for them: they'd come in with low expectations. Buyers aren't put off by faltering league positions, just when they dangerously teeter on the brink of the Championship, I'd have thought.

I'd never underestimate the 'ability' of this board to withhold squad investment.

We lost 9m last Accounts.

Maybe the Club, as a whole will possibly get at least 20m a Season, we can both agree on at least 20, yes?

You seem to think that it will all be invested into the playing squad, I just dont think it will be that way, maybe a few scraps will be thrown, but I doubt we will see any great increase in transfers, but lets face it, considering we have "spent" 14m or so in the last 11 Years, I doubt it could get "worse".

I had so much hope that they would be tremendous together, it was so disappointing.

I'm worried about this myself, but at the same time they have never been in a rush to decrease the debt, other than when the overdraft was called in which is significantly different in the fact that it could be, and indeed was, called in.

It serves them no purpose to decrease the debt, maybe now, with more money coming in, they can get to work on it, maybe pay themselves a little bonus for all their hard work.

Alarm bells started ringing for me at the press conference when Kenwright started talking up Fellaini's sale plus 'a few quid'.

I cant see a net spend coming up.

Getting rid of a 9million pound loss and then having money left over to spend should make a significant difference imo. Even with your own calculations that limit it to no more than an extra 20million per season, that still represents a 25% increase in revenue for each year over the next three years. Which is more than what we would have got from qualifying for the champions league for 3 years in a row.

And I happen to think it's going to be more like 30million a season, which may not actually start reaching us until this time next year. I don't necessarily think it will all go on improving the playing squad, but it should give us far more room to invest in the squad than what we previously had.
