Financial Fair Play investigation

My concern on this is where Moshris money came from . Thinking this is more what this about than anything else and the FA under pressure from government are digging us out .
Pains me to say but fortunately in this instance we (EVERTON FC) have a Conservative Party and its government who have been up to their eyeballs in Russian cash in the same period, there will be no root and branch look into our financing, stones glass houses and all that.

Yeah, it could have been as much as 12 points but Reading have accepted the sanctions and taken the six-point hit.
Was that they didn't make a sufficient profit on player on sales in effect.

The EFL have their flaws but do enforce FFP in a reasonable manner under Parry.

Since 2018-19, the first fail under the 3 years but predating Parry.

Birmingham, -9 2018-19

Sheffield Wednesday, -12 (halved owing to EFL incompetence when they implied the Stadium sale could be moved backward under Harvey), 2020-21.

Derby -9 and a further 3 suspended owing to a host of wrangling, Agreed Decision, 2021-22. EFL coulda pushed for up to 17 probably if Agreed Decision not reached.

Reading Part 1 -6 and a further 6 suspended as an Agreed Decision otherwise the League could have pushed for 12 instantly, 2021-22.

Reading Part 2 -6 as the sufficient Profit on Player Sales didn't materialise, 2022-23. New budget needs agreeing for next season too.

reckon the PL is probably looking at the absolute mess of a precedent that the EFL has got itself stuck in and doesn't want to go down that path

That is also true. Although I see it as a relative positive personally and if anything there are some clubs who got away with it so far- overspending my view is dock one, dock all- or at least charge/refer one, charge/refer all. Not if they have clearly complied obviously.

Some fans of some clubs ie Luton, Barnsley and Rotherham based on their forums think FFP fails should lead to automatic relegation so views really vary!

Reading have just been handed a six-point deduction with immediate effect. This stems back from a 2021 breach of rules as they haven’t got their house in order.
Aye, the BBC say the deduction is due to the club failing to meet the agreed business plan imposed after the P&L breech back in 2021.

It may be relevant; it may not be. If we are going to get a point deduction, let's hope it is next year rather than this year as we won't be so poor next year.

Sort of my point to be honest. We don’t have any idea what’s going to happen.
Some claim to know, but they have no idea
It will certainly for better or worse liven up the Championship relegation battle anyway.

Now just the one point above the bottom 3.

It was enforced the same season as the alleged well proven breach which is ground-breaking. Granted there was already a template in place.

The EFL are constantly handing out points deductions. The Premier League are not.

Take no notice, it isn't a precedent

Presumably because no PL team has yet broken the profit and sustainability rules.

They'll probably see this as the perfect opportunity to set a precedent.
