Yeah, it could have been as much as 12 points but Reading have accepted the sanctions and taken the six-point hit.

According to Sky sports it was 12 points.

The sanction relates to the club's failure to meet the terms of a business plan agreed following a breach of the profit and sustainability limits in 2021. The initial breach carried a six-point penalty with a further six points suspended until the current campaign, and that has now been enforced.

Lawyers and decent ones have been used by Championship clubs but if the Premier League have the stomach for lengthy wrangling as the Football League seem to then the Governing body often wins in the end.

They battled v Derby for somewhere between 18 months and 2 years. Disputed accounts also lead de facto to varied levels of transfer restrictions.

From what I’ve seen of The EFL they seem fairly even handed in punishments , I’ll not use the word fair , but it seems they’re happy to punish anyone who breaks their rules regardless of a clubs standing . I don’t see them allowing a club to Go into defacto administration and bs and bluff their way out of it like our less than loveable neighbours for example.

Bristol City oddly enough. I know a few Everton fans though- so I have sympathy on one level but at the same time am of a mindset of investigate one and investigate all.

Plus this is a very interesting test case.
